@Cops&Cons obtained lapel footage from the Rio Rancho Police Department in New Mexico. It shows the arrest of Albuquerque Police Officer Jeffrey Wharton prior to his shift beginning. He was taken into custody by detectives of the Rio Rancho Police Department. The on duty arrest was due to a warrant for his arrest from the Rio Rancho PD.

According to the criminal complaint, Wharton beat his girlfriend so badly, she had several gashes on her head and face. Police say her injuries were so severe, she had to be taken to the hospital where she was diagnosed with a brain bleed. Some of the domestic incident was captured on the couples “RING” doorbell system.

When Officer Wharton arrived for his shift at an area substation Rio Rancho Police officers were waiting for him armed with a felony warrant. At one point you’ll see they removed his duty belt and searched him. After the search they are seen on lapel video cutting off his fully marked uniform shirt. Wharton was lead out of the substation to a waiting cruiser.

He was booked into the Sandoval County Detention Center on charges of Kidnapping (First Degree) (NO Intent to Commit Sex Offense), Aggravated Battery (great bodily harm) (household member), Aggravated Battery Against a Household Member (Strangulation or Suffocation), Aggravated Battery (great bodily harm) (household member), Tampering with Evidence (Highest Crime a Capital, First or Second Degree and Negligent Use of a Deadly Weapon (Unsafe Handling).

Wharton resigned from APD shortly after this arrest. APD says Wharton had been with the department since November 2010. He was a senior officer with the department. His trial is pending.

  1. Scum in Uniform: this is one of the best vids I've ever seen… the humiliation as they cut off the shirt is too good. From God to scumbag, just like that… How does it feel guy?

  2. To everyone in the comments who think that he was being shamed or they were trying to hide his arrest you are wrong. They needed to take his bulletproof vest off. Th's is all.

  3. Why is the female officer with long black hair just standing around it wasn't her body cam recording? With her hair in a long pony tail if he went nuts he has a handle to grab her with and take her down.

  4. That cop looks just like the "bull queer" in Shawshank Redemption that beat up by Hadley and sent to a minimum security prison paralyzed from the waist down.

  5. He got probation. Is there anything more humiliating to his live-in girlfriend and public than that? Disgraceful. The judge and everyone involved ought to be thrown out of America.

  6. This is trash and just for show. All rhose felony charges and he got probation. They put on this show of cutting off the uniform but they didn't even fire him. They let him resign. Fake trash.

  7. I applaud the dept,, but where was the part where he was shoved into a wall after being handcuffed. Where were the deployed tasers? Where was the gang members to beat him because he was resisting? He had a gun and weapons on him; the cops weren't "in fear for their lives?" Amazing the double standard!

  8. The cutting his uniform off…one of the greatest, most appropriately humiliating things I've ever seen. I'd have framed a picture of this and presented it to that poor woman. That, or put it on a billboard for her and her whole family to enjoy.

  9. OH, AND THEY LET THE FEMALE OFFICERS HAVE HIM, TOO! The poetic justice is just beyond compare! This is a dull video, and I'm STILL loving it more with each passing minute!

I mean, since the practice clearly isn't going away anytime soon, I wish they'd at least have started shouting "STOP RESISTING" when they pulled him out of the car, and worked him over one good time. Just on general principle.

  10. They should have left that shirt on him, just so every inmate on the inside of the jail could have gotten a look at this wife beating a piece of garbage in his police uniform, so everybody in there would have known exactly who it was that was marked for Kos
