Birmingham City 0 – 1 Middlesbrough: It wasn’t a classic, with the real winners being the Blues fans who stayed at home, with their side offering very little and finding themselves in big trouble; Boro now sit on three straight wins!

  1. Taking my own comment from Saturday and adding to it:

‘Well, we’re massively, MASSIVELY in the shit now’

Edit: In all seriousness though, what a disgraceful showing that was. A team completely out of ideas, players shitting themselves every time they get the ball, resorting to hoofing it every time. Pritchard our marquee Jan singing saying we have 10 cup finals, giving the ball away and standing still whilst McGee rifled it into the net. Bacuna attempting what was possibly one of the worst performances of the season. I am honestly out of words to explain it anymore.

Edit: The only solution I can see at this point is a temporary manager. It’s clear Venus isn’t up to it at this point and no comms on Mowbray coming back. We’ve got to start looking at options to rectify this and fast. Rowett is available (I wish I was joking).

That was just depressing. I see nothing but relegation this season as everyone around us (not Rotherham) seem to be able to pick up points at some rate.

First time since Rooney left that I’ve really thought we look like going down. Just so little composure on the ball, so meek at the back. Could’ve played for another 90mins and I don’t think we’d have scored.

I know Mowbray is meant to be in regular contact with Venus, but we’ve looked awful since he went.

Sigh. I’ve been telling myself we’re going to be fine but we absolutely have to be winning these home games. Started mentally preparing myself for league one as soon as they scored, got to try and stay positive though. Praying for a miraculous Mowbray recovery.

There’s no way these lot can pick up enough points to survive now. No shots on target. Fucking appalling stuff.

Interested to see what happens to these new owners once we go down. We’ve had a bit of shit luck with Mowbray’s health, but I think this could have all been avoided by just not sacking a manager that was doing a perfectly reasonable job.

I only managed to watch the second half. I probably shouldn’t have bothered

We’re done. None of the players seem to want any responsibility, and they’re bottling it in a big way.

Our literal only hope is that Mowbray makes a quick recovery and gets them battling again.

  8. Cheers for the 3 points last weekend and for this tonight boro, very bloody kind of you

Solid performance, this formation isn’t the prettiest to watch but the results don’t disappoint.

Ayling with 3 assists in 3 games, what a workhorse these past few

  10. Pathetic. Utterly pathetic. Venus is no good as a manager. Terrible performances. The only real players that did anything were Laird (only stand out player who ran his legs off and MOTM for Blues) and Buchanan even Drameh and Hall performed OK. Nothing connecting, weak upfront. Weak in midfield. Ruddy needs to go Butch out of Monkey World and start slapping the players on their heads. Unpopular opinion, but maybe start playing the youngsters like Donovan, Dixon and a few others? League 1 here we come.

Boro – McGree is growing as a player I’ll give him that. Did well for Australia at the World Cup and did very well tonight. Very sportsmanlike with him not celebrating. Ailying and Latte (sp?) were good for you guys too.

Only saw the 2nd half. And the only moment of excitement was the ref subbing himself.
That said tho…. Birmingham didn’t seem to have many ideas coming forward, so we did a decent job in nullifying them.

  12. I’d even consider Warnock as a temporary manager until the end of the season at this point.

We have no idea how long Mowbray will be out and Venus clearly isn’t up to the job.

Birmingham need to hire a temporary manager whose happy to just manage 9 games whilst Mowbray is out . There is literally just the one candidate that fits that …

  14. I know this feeling, it’s the feeling i get when it seems certain we’re getting relegated. No fight, urgency, nothing. Not even the smallest response from the Millwall game. By the time Mowbray comes back we’ll be cut adrift. Utterly painful watching us. I feel an absolute fool for buying tickets for Watford this Saturday, gonna be torture.

  15. If I were Birmingham I’d get someone like Lamouchi or even Warnock in until Mowbray comes back.

  16. I genuinely feel bad for Birmingham this season. They started off pretty well with Eustace, got rid of him for honestly no real reason, and then the gates of hell opened for them.

Sadly, I think they might go down this season; Huddersfield have shown some bite in recent weeks that’s been lacking at Birmingham.

  17. Very poor performance. Pritchard stood out as being particularly terrible.
We didn’t deserve anything from the game, Midddlesboro deserved their 3 points.
Having watched the game it feels like an opportunity missed given ‘Boro weren’t anything special but we looked totally clueless going forward which isn’t something I expected to say under Mowbray (don’t wanna blame Venus too much as he’s not a manager but as others have said, genuinely not sure where we go from here. Don’t like the idea of getting a caretaker in but getting pretty concerned about how soft we are.
Sanderson back next week will be a positive and it’s still all to play for but worrying times

Anyone got some hope going spare? I’m running real low on it and I’m not quite ready to move onto acceptance, I want to keep bargaining

  19. What was the fucking point in that, a chance for us to put some distance between us and the relegation zone and we can’t even manage a single fucking shot on target 🤦🏼‍♀️

We really need mowbray back, or an actual manager temporarily. The brain trust of mark Venus and ashley Cole is not working, we’ve managed 1 sodding single point since mowbray went off and we were starting to get a bit clear then.

Thanks ‘Boro. I forgive you for buying Azaz now. Also the offer is still on to buy him in the summer.

we looked pretty good in the first half but honestly in the second half we just went into second gear when it was clear birmingham had nothing going, probably a bad habit.

  22. Dogshit is what we are. I hope all those players feel an ounce of guilt to be paid that much while ordinary people fork out to watch absolute drab football week in week out
