Private equity firms are a goddamn plague to society. Good luck Ipswich.

I’m an absolute moron when it comes to these sorts of things (and just about anything in all honesty); is this a good thing or a bad thing?

I think an altruistic donation to the EFLâs legal department is in order.

I hope this works out well for them. While this may appear exciting though Iâd always approach something like this with real trepidation. Private equity wonât give a shite about the club or the local community if things go tits up and they begin asset stripping.

Equity firms are such a prevalent feature in sport that it’s only a matter of time before they all maximise their gains and fuck of to the next venture.

Pension funds invest long-term, so that’s why we’ve seen Ipswich run sensibly and with a decent strategy.
The Private Equity coming in will expect a return instantly, so the downside is that if not promoted this year or next then the return has to come from somewhere else.
Worst thing is to have a shit megalomaniac as an owner, like we do. Second worst is probably PE. Pension funds would be up there as one of the best (currently, in a realistic sense given the state of football these days).

I’m a bit skeptical of Private Equity in any sports really , especially given the good work the pension fund and Gamechanger have done at Ipswich. If this is purely additional investment to really fund a long term stay in the Prem and infrastructure improvements and they aren’t going to start meddling in the day to day running of things then it could be very good. Just always get worried when I see PV in football because they always want big returns that you don’t get.
