Southampton (3) 3 – 1 (1) West Bromwich Albion: The Saints were in control for the duration of the match, but only in the second half did they make their domination pay to secure a Wembley clash against Leeds!

  1. Not a supporter of any of the 4, but still enjoyable to see these results after most people predicted Norwich vs WBA in the final. 😁

Not a great look for Championship, tho. 2 relegated sides in a play-off final. The gap is getting bigger.

  2. No pressing, no impetus, paper thin midfield. Can’t say I’m unhappy with the season as we’ve definitely punched above our weight under Carlos, but we’re just not at the level for promotion; even if we’d have somehow won today we would have been battered by Leeds. For the love of god, please can we buy a striker who isn’t injury-prone for next season, having to play Wallace up front is not what you want for an all or nothing game.

WBA didn’t really turn up, I’m sure they put their game plan into effect pretty much as they wanted to but as soon as we scored and still kept them at bay it looked like a mistake to not have a big hit at us early on again

Possibly the loudest St Mary’s and certainly the loudest Chapel end I’ve ever been in

Considering the gulf of quality I didn’t expect anything else but I at least hoped we’d have held a better account of ourselves

How is a team that’s spent the last 11 seasons before this in the Prem gonna have a full on pitch invasion after a comfortable playoff semi final win?? Possibly the most tinpot thing I have ever seen in football.

Also, two of the worst performances I’ve seen all season from Norwich and West Brom in the 2nd legs.

Just capitulated in that second half, just needed to keep things tight for the first 10/15 minutes after the break but Grady needlessly gives the ball away and they score from that, then we just capitulate.

Ultimately, proud we got to where we did. Held our own against a Saints side where only one of our players would get in the team for (Palmer) and maybe two tops in the matchday squad (Kipre) for three quarters of the two legs. We have no fit strikers and we haven’t had any for pretty much all of the season. Been a great season, two weeks away from administration and not spending a penny in the summer with an aging squad yet we finished fifth. Things are much better now than this time last season just by virtue of our immediate term being secure. Also likely to get a lot of big earners off the wage bill in the summer will help, just need to keep Fellow, Palmer and maybe try and tie down Kipre.

Now just need to decide whether I want Russell Martin and Rishi Sunak to lose or Leeds to lose. Tough choice.

  7. Might sound salty but pitch invasion after a semi final seems premature.

Beat by the better team, our squad needs so many adjustments next season

  8. Saints vs Leeds

Given both teams history, it’s going to be a competition of who crumbles the most 🤣

  9. Forever and what ever the outcome

    BAGGGGGGIIIIIIEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  10. Yet again, settling for a 0-0 at home really doesn’t look like a good idea, does it?
