It’s not quite as bad as the number suggests. £190m is the total sum, not all of it needs to be paid this year. They’ll have to sell, but it shouldn’t be catastrophic. Sell a couple of the big money players, bring in a bunch of loanees, and they’ll be right up fighting for the title next season

So if they don’t pay that outstanding money will they get a transfer embargo and points deduction like what happened to us or no?

Can’t help but think the game is screwed in the long term. Everyone spending like crazy to keep up or even not keep up like Leeds. It will lead to a schism with a super league being created. The gap is becoming so large between our league and the PL.

Don’t we still have money to come in too e.g. Barca haven’t fully paid for Raphina yet?

It’s nowhere near as bad as it sounds
We owe 73mil this year, clubs are allowed to make 13mil of losses a year. Meaning the sales of Summerville and Gnonto will cover this and leave enough to do some summer business and is probably enough to purchase Rodon.
It heaps massive pressure onto next year but even then we have players like Gray and Rutter we can sell. The big problem is if these loan clauses continue to have effect because then we have 6 or 7 players like Sinisterra, Harrison and Aaronson who will just eventually leave for free when we should have been recouping about 50-70 mil for them as a group. Perhaps more. Victor Orta is a fucking moron it is astounding he continues to be employed because what he pulled was professional malpractice in football finance terms.
In terms of transfers we don’t need to do a lot of business – given that the league will likely be much weaker next year based on the teams who have come down we could probably lose Gnonto and Summerville and be ok assuming we can find a good winger on loan from the prem.

I’ll believe it when Phil Hay says it.

We should have flouted the rules, like Everton, Forrest and Leicester. Might still be in the prem or at least promoted this season.

Said elsewhere but
we owe around £75 mil which will be covered by the parachute payment no?
Then realistically Summerville/Gnonto are gone. If we get a total of £50 mil for both that’d be pretty decent.
