    The entire point of parachute payments are to manage this wage bill issue over the space of three seasons. Instead they’ve frittered it all away over three years and now are having to pay the piper.

    [EDIT] In fairness, they havent really “frittered” away much money since their relegation in 2021. In fact, they’ve been pretty frugal in their transfer dealings in the last 2-3 years but that probably proves a point – that even with a tight (by Championship standards) wage structure you still need to inject £11m a season to balance the books then clearly as a club the required natural revenues just arent there to compete with the major players at the top of the division. Be happy with mid-table Championship finishes because the books suggest that is where you arguably belong.
