[Fabrizio Romano] EXCL: Carney Chukwuemeka’s contract includes £40m release clause. Chelsea insist on their position not to allow talented midfielder to leave on loan. Every approach for potential loan in the recent months has been rejected so far.

I mean that is quite the steep fee for a player that hasn’t played a lot of minutes yet due to injury, I don’t mind it

I hope we don’t sell him but with this news it’s probably him or Gallagher at this point. 40m is basically double what we got him for right?

  3. I don’t want to get rid of him but if someone is willing to pay that it’s some decent business

I really feel like Carney is either going to be a great player or perennially injured, no in between.

  5. Seems like we’re actively trying to sell him then. The only reason why Fabrizio would know about the release clause is if the club told him directly, and they wouldn’t do that unless they wanted someone to sign him.

Looks like we’re getting rid of all the Boehly signings.

Obviously Sterling unsellable on those wages.

Lmao ac Milan ain’t got money like that and even if someone pays thatz, then fair.

It’s sound like they want to sell him. Why bother with KDH when we already had Santos and Carney (Gallagher technically) ?

  9. He’s got very good potential, but with the injuries he’s been having you never know how he turns out. I think £40 mil is a good price for him and brings us some good profit, given the circumstances, especially now that we’ve got KDH.

I doubt anybody has that kind of money or more importantly money for someone who hasnt played that often

With how close Romano is to the club this is very obviously a briefing.

We’ve basically gone “Chuky is for sale for £40m, come and get him guys”

What an absolute joke, youngsters are forcing Chelsea to put release clauses in their contracts

Not even Brighton sink to this level

Give him a year or 2 of being fully fit and he could be worth way more than that.

  14. I was downvoted when I suggested a while back that I fully believe most of our signings have RC in their contract, that’s the project they are getting sold on. Most of them know they will move to more ambitious teams if tyey show they are good. This is a player farm now. Enjoy the ambition.

We are a midtable mentality club now.

Why did we pay £20m for a youngster and put a £40m release clause in his contract? Hasn’t worked out because of injury but surely if were paying £20m for somebody with no experience we think there’s a good chance he ends up worth way more than £40m?

  16. Quite the reveal here that we’ve been sticking release clauses in the contracts of kids we’ve signed. Not happy with that at all.

I sort of understand say 100m + clauses for first teamers but roughly double what we bought him for at 18 years old. Nah we should not be entertaining that shit. This ain’t Spain.

Seems like every player is being viewed as how to flip later on.

  17. He deserved more game time last season, nearly always made an impact when he comes off the bench.

  18. Unless he becomes incredible he is likely been sold for profit

Especially as his already on 100k a week so he would probably want big money to sign a new deal which his not getting unless he’s Palmer 2.0.

  19. Paid 15+5 in with a 40m release clause. Thats some small club crap. This is hilariously bad lol
