[Fabrizio Romano] 🚨Brighton have inquired about Kyle Walker-Peters, on the radar for some months. West Ham are still pushing for KWP and Flynn Downes may be part of the swap deal but deal not straight forward. Tottenham have been monitoring him as he’d tick several boxes, no bid/talks so far.

I really don’t hate this as a backup LB/RB, esp given VDV and Gray can also provide cover. Definitely not a world class player but our starters in these positions are already pretty fantastic

With our set piece problems of last season will be maybe be another player who is too small? On the fence about this. I’m trust the recruitment team to do what’s right for the team

  3. Please no. We literally just signed Gray for 40m who can cover for Porro. Unless Davies is getting sold we don’t need him. VdV can also cover LB as well.

He would make perfect sense in terms of the required contingent of club-trained homegrown players to cover both fullback positions. If that isn’t the issue anymore, I‘d much rather would want us to go for a left-footed CB who can also cover LB. Calafiori is the dream but I’m afraid that this ship has sailed after his strong EURO performance and the obvious connection to Juve with Motta now

  5. Don’t like this. I get it that KWP gets a lot of warm feelings here, but I simply think he would never be considered if not for his HG status. He’s very good for Championship team, he might be good for some PL teams who play attacking football but I just won’t be comfortable seeing him playing for Spurs against any of the big sides, any tough away places, etc.

  6. As nice as a reunion with an academy player would be I don’t think he is necessarily a player or position we need to fill to improve the team.

We ideally now only need a left sided CB who can deputise for Udogie/VdV when needed to finalise our defence.

There’s a reason why he’s not here anymore, even when he was all he did was sit on the bench. We’re better off keeping Emerson it were considering him

I think the reality is that, if not for the club trained aspect, we wouldn’t be looking at him – he’s not a player who really elevates the squad, but a homegrown/club-trained replacement for Royal.

He’d be a useful squad player, providing backup at RB and LB. He’s not going to be getting consistent starts. I just don’t see it as a realistic move, regardless of whether you think it’s a good idea or a bad idea. At this point in his career, I don’t see it being a move he’d want to make.
