    # Marcus Rashford, a talented player and introverted character at the crossroads.

    ### He’s spent the summer getting fit and re-setting.

It’s time to discuss Marcus Rashford. As England head into a quarter-final of the European Championship, what has happened to a player who helped them qualify for the tournament? What has happened to the career of a talented footballer, likeable but introverted, who is still only 26, still with so much to offer?

There are so many questions around Rashford. What is the state of his relationship with Erik ten Hag? With Gareth Southgate? With the game he once played so vibrantly? With his relationship with Manchester United fans? Do United actually want him to stay or cash in a valuable PSR chip?

So many questions. How focused is he? Was his ill-advised boozy trip to Belfast a one-off or sign of a bigger problem? Is he drinking too much? Why has an individual lauded for his work battling child food poverty now become a fixture in the cross-hairs of the media? And shouldn’t we all be hoping that he re-finds his way?

Where to start? Probably on February 28 at the City Ground. It all happened in a blur. Rashford chased Diogo Dalot’s ball into the Nottingham Forest area, trying to give United the lead in a tight FA Cup tie. As Rashford controlled Dalot’s pass, he was sandwiched between the Forest defenders, Murillo and Felipe. Chris Kavanagh ruled no foul, no penalty, but there was a consequence for Rashford.

He has been off socials, which is good. I haven’t seen any of his fitness videos online, which is also good. Low profile grinding, do all your talking on the fucking pitch Marcus, I’m rooting for you.

Marcus can’t just decide when he wants to work for the team. We need to move on from this player

Several accounts on X claiming he was leaving and that his relationship with Eric is broken. I hate X sometimes.

the fact he got off social media is already the perfect start for his comeback

  6. I haven’t been around enough to make a judgement on whether this is genuine or a PR stunt, but I reckon he wouldn’t spread this if he didn’t actually intend to do anything. I believe in Marcus, will be behind him all the way!

  7. I read that as “he wants to slay because he loves the club” either way I’m on board.

  8. I love Marcus when his in form has the ability to be one of the best players in the world, his not a kid anymore hopefully his turned it around because honestly this season has to be make or break for him

  9. The rashford cycle is 100% one year, 0% next and then 100% again! So we are entering another Rashford season now.

  10. A strange player; very few look genuinely world class for periods before long spells of anonymity and back again… we’ve seen it in a short term version from players like Nani and Berbatov who did it from one game to the next or even one moment to the next.

It’s these long term peaks and troughs in form that have probably kept him at United; when he’s good, he’s so good we don’t want to sell him, when he’s bad, he’s so bad no one would want him for the cost.

I feel at his age the next two seasons will be do-or-die. If he has a bad season next year he is probably gone. If he has a great season followed by another awful one he’s probably gone too considering we can’t go on relying on someone being so wildly inconsistent for long periods.

I’m hoping he can turn it around for good after this summer; he’s such a good player when he’s on form that we can focus on improving other areas of the squad whilst he’s got left wing locked down.

Blokes going to come back looking like Gareth Bale in his second season at Real Madrid.

As simple as, a fully firing Rashford will help this club get back to the top 3 quicker than anticipated. Whatever thats happened in the last season, belongs to last season. Time to start fresh. Good to see.

  13. The only issue i have with Rashford is he is very inconsistent. He has 1 good season then 1 bad season and before you know it he will be 30. He can’t afford anymore bad seasons. He has great qualities , i still think he can make the difference for united

  14. I would always prefer Rashford to stay, always love having academy players stay in the team, it’s in United’s DNA. Also on the more pragmatic side the cost to replace him would be huge.

He is a very frustrating player with how inconsistent he is, but I love watching him when he is confident and in form.

  15. 1st game of the season doesn’t score the perfect HatTrick, social media pundits ‘just what was Marcus really doing over the summer when he should’ve been at the Euros with England’

    Guaranteed.

Wasn’t he showing himself working extra hard in America last year?

Gl this season, hope he smashes it

I hope he drops that 👉😑 celebration. Not because I think it’s a bad thing but I’d rather him focus on his game properly and not ‘proving the haters wrong’, which I always felt was the point of it

  18. He gets to redeem himself with one more season. He had an awful season on and off the pitch last season. He has to perform this season with the wage he is on.

  19. Good for him, sometimes people need a full reset. Theres no denying when Rashford is on it he is a fucking remarkable player. Fingers crossed he gets his enjoyment back aswell, as he did look a bit lost this season, plus outside stuff going on etc.
