bye Jas hello mate God honestly honestly oh matey M matey we had a good run we lose it in the final it’s painful for per both of us we’ve been doing the watch long we’ both lost our voices um it’s going to be a long night it’s going to be a long night um and there’s so much to discuss um just listening to to aidah and piery and and Jim rapping up there about the tournament about what we saw tonight there is so much to dissect there is so much to go through um and we got over three hours to do it this journey is going to be a horrible long one but it needs to be traveled we’ve got to have this conversation the conversation now it’s painful because it’s so raw and it’s happened now but the conversation has got to take place about what happened there’s so many things that we need to improve on there were there were some good things about this but the reality is the tournament we got ourselves in a position to win it and even in the 73rd minute I felt we were in the best position to go and win it because when you get an equalizer like that and you and Spain would have felt right there right then oh my God we got England back in it and yeah lost their emphases though didn’t we as soon as we scored negative went on the defensive again Panic stations all over the park and then question marks have to be raised over Garris South Gate really does you time time for him to move on well that conversation is one that will will almost certainly morph into what we’re going to talk about there’s so much to discuss um just go the lines mate just go the lines yeah it’s going to be a long night for us uh let’s go to Paul who’s a man united fan all right Paul evening PA Boys all right Paul how you doing right yeah how you feeling no no Paul no right no I I don’t want to say I didn’t have expectations but you know Spain are good Spain are good um Gareth South I didn’t find in after the holling game I listened to you boys I was a bit disappointed because you were heaping so much praise on him for making a substitution in the 80th minute like he was some genius um and I was disappointed in that and look the reality is that when it comes to all the major games that Southgate has overseen and some minor ones when it comes to the crunch he has never been able to help his team when they’ve needed him and that is the bottom that is the bill and end all of it in fact most of his decisions have cost us tournaments right correct France Italy Spain in this tournament if you look at it good football 10 to 15% of what we played was good football and the rest of it was just you know it was it was in moments and the the main point I want to make is about the substitutions right because I think people misunderstand substitutions and bear with me because wait there because we got to go to fake she’s standing by with Harry Kane yes I’m with the England Captain Harry commiserations I can’t even imagine what you’re feeling right at this moment in time C can you tell everyone no it’s pain just uh yeah gut-wrenching really you know we’ve worked so hard to get to this moment so much goes into into these tournaments and uh yeah you’re you’re close to reaching the the highest of highs in your professional career and and when it gets taken away like that it’s a it’s a real tough pill to swallow obviously it’s been twice now for England that we’ve been here and you know we believed it was our moment we we put everything on the line and um and yeah it didn’t go our way so it’s just a really tough one to think what went wrong out there tonight we’re playing against a really good team Spain played really well with the ball we we struggled to get pressure in the in the first half um they used it well they used it better than us we we didn’t quite have the same possession that we had in the last couple games uh but then these games went down to moments we’ done really well to get back into the game a fantastic finish from Cole and then um yeah I have to watch the second goal back but when it’s that late on it’s it’s a real tough one to take we had moment at the end there with one cleared off the line so um yeah you need things to go your way in the final and they didn’t for us and how are you personally because we’ve seen you come off a few times now in the last couple of games there are question marks over your Fitness are you fully fit it’s not a time to talk about personal uh personal people or or me or you know we’re a team and uh everyone’s at their physical maximum you know you’re at the end of a tough season people are dealing with a lot of stuff so it’s not just me but uh yeah you know the game plays plans out and the tournament plans out in a way the manager makes decisions to that’s best for the team I made that clear in in the last game and um and yeah you know for me personally it’s just another another tough loss in in a big game so uh yeah we’re going to get as much rest as we can probably a few weeks rest now and then you know you have to dust off and and go again and and fight to to get back here in uh well in the in the next World Cup just one final question and it is on your manager who’s just come out to to to talk to the media obviously his contract expires in December there are question marks over whether he will want to stay um what’s your opinion on the future of of gareis South again there’s L of time to talk about it that’s his personal decision we’ve made it clear how much the players you know love the boss and and how much he’s given to this country and and his record spe for itself we would have loved nothing morning to to win this game for him more than anyone tonight so um yeah he he will obviously go away like he did before and and think about what’s best for him and and uh the country and and make that decision but we’re fully behind the manager we uh yeah like I said at this moment we’re just all uh we’re all cuted for for each other because we put so much uh so much effort in I’m really sorry it didn’t go your way tonight Harry thanks very much for talking to us thank you yeah Harry Kane there with Faker others Southgate is incoming as well we’ll go back to Paul right Paul yeah all thanks Les um well Harry should have been off at 45 minutes but that’s not what I say the point I want to make about this and why I think he’s such a bad manager look at the substitutions right and this is going to sound strange but substitutions are not made to score goals they’re made to wrestle control of the game back from the opposition and you do that so that the patterns and the tactics that you’ve worked on on the training pitch that is what leads you to goals right managers that throw attackers on late because they need to they need to they’re not doing it to change the game right they’re doing it because they’re desperate for something to happen but that actually means that they have failed in their job to impact the game right now if you look at all the goals that we scored they are when Gareth southgate’s plan went out the window and he threw players on late to score goals he never once made a substitution to change the pattern of the game ever well you say that he did against the Netherlands Watkins come on and scores the winner and he brings on Co Palmer and he scores The Equalizer I mean listen I’m all I’m all for digging out you know Southgate and in the right and I get it and there’s a mentality I think with Southgate and and negative tactics after we go and get back in the game but but you have to you have to say the subs that he made did pay off because we got back into the game because the players that we have got are good enough that if you throw them on late in the game they can get you a last second overhead they can get you a last minute goal but Kuman made his change in the 45th minute and they took control of the game Gareth didn’t make a change for 35 minutes after that and you were praising it and I get it the players that he brought on came and they scored the goal but that is out of desperation look at the Denmark game he made three Subs on 70 minutes and there was no impact on the game now let me ask you when was the last time a manager made three subs and there was no impact meaning not a good impact not a bad impact nothing because he doesn’t make Subs to change the game he makes Subs to score goals which is a desperate old school way of looking at football that shows you don’t really understand what’s happening on the football it’s very easy to dig out Southgate tonight and I get it there’s going to be a lot of talk about Southgate Paul but what I would say is the players are out there on the football pitch we’ve made the subs we’ve got back in the game why all of a sudden do they sit off why do they have that mentality of oh now we’re going to go on the diff on on the retreat the game was there for us to take real emphasis in the game we score and all of a sudden we start panicking and we solve now that can be an argument about Southgate that can be his mentality negative sitting back on am on da via the talk sport app and on your smart speaker talk sport
