Alan Pardew ADMITS England Were Simply NOT GOOD ENOUGH In the Euro 2024 Final! 😥🔥

so a team with a school boy a Chelsea reject at Center forward an Old Pro playing in Saudi at Center half a left back who starts barely 50% of Chelsea’s games and who lost the best player in the tournament at halftime were still too good for England forget the sir it’s still Gareth Stand Down The Statue sculptor scratch off the bank holiday and don’t you dare to the dreaded words it’s coming home for another 2 years at least Spain were as tasty as Tapas England as predictable as a cheese sandwich Spain got us by the Bal arxs and squeezed and the dream of Euro 2024 ended in tears a very good morning this is talk sport Euro breakfast with Alan Clark get the UK’s best used car deals guaranteed I’m Jeff standing alongside me for the next 4 hours former Newcastle with Tam and Crystal Palace boss Alan P morning Al morning Jeff great start mate I’m just wondering what we should talk about today yeah no there’s not much to cover is there certainly some therapy needed that’s for sure yeah yeah I mean look we we’ll get into the the gist of it all in a moment or two did we just run out of luck in the tournament oh I don’t about running out of luck I actually thought a half time when Rod didn’t come out oh here we go again nice little bit slice of luck for for GFF and the boys uh but it wasn’t to be and it never looked like it was to be I think you said and I said right you know just a little while ago off a that uh when the winning goal went in you you kind of it wasn’t like a massive blow it was almost coming wasn’t it it was almost you knew it was like it’s deserved they they were the better team and you know it was it was it was awful really in terms of the feeling at the end but the better team won uh by some distance and and you’re absolutely right best team in the tournament look they beat Italy they beat Germany they beat France they beat England they beat Croatia too they beat Croatia yeah so you know won every game won every game and they did it with style and Flair and panash G getting to the final and losing Al serious question for 5 minutes past 6 getting to the final and losing do we regard that as failure well I think if you look at our route I think there’s a there’s a there’s a sort of question mark about how we actually got to the final because it all sort of fell our way I mean the one thing I would say about the uh I’m not swerving the question but Spain played the same way in every game because I see it live three of them so they played the same system there was no magic dust it was we knew what was coming up against us and actually we we just couldn’t cope with it and a lot of the teams couldn’t cope with it maybe Germany was the only team that kind of took them to the wire and perhaps could have got something out of it for us I thought we were very very fortunate to get to the final very fortunate the Bellingham goal that got us out of the big big situation um was was massive for us and then obviously we got the late goals again so I think um for Gareth this tournament he had to change system uh we didn’t play the same way he changed back for it again for the final it just goes to show you that we wasn’t quite now down in my opinion uh tactically as a team was changing the system again for the final was that a mistake well I don’t if that was a mistake because Stuart Pierce and myself probably had the same view on that uh I I know because we did the pre-show uh on Saturday and because of the two the two naturally gifted great Wingers that they had if you went to a back three against them and give them any kind of room down the channels I think you would have been in trouble so I think that tactical point was right to go back to a back four Dean rice sitting so deep though caused us all sorts of trouble again in terms that we couldn’t get uh on top of their Midfield they had too much time dictated the game for far too long okay uh lots to talk about then we’d like to hear your your 81089 if you want to text us I can guarantee I’ll read out every single one that I possibly can in the next 4 hours after heartbreak once again for England the time has come and this surely is England’s time Gareth Southgate says he believes in dreams well he’s made us dream and now let’s make that dream come true I’m looking at Harry Kane you’re a mile off the page we’re almost playing with 10 men as Jamal brings it Forward onto that dangerous left foot and he set up Williams who scores and Spain lead react now we didn’t play in the way that we should have done until we went a goal behind play instead toward the edge the shot from distance is in it is call K England fight on they’ll find a way I don’t know how they’ll find a way and then when we went to 111 that then was a similar situation four minutes of normal time ago it’s 1-1 Spain working back through the middle again or farble with the layoff good low ball slides it in an absolute killer of a goal to lose a final is obviously devastating it’s happened again it keeps on happening when is this going to end I have to accept that we’ve we’ve come a little bit short tonight and I think that outcome was was fair they were there for the Tak in Spain we were tearing them apart and then we’ve gone and sat back still the long interminable horrendous way Fight [Music] Continues I have to be honest I I must have gone to the L when we were tearing them apart cuz I don’t remember that but nevertheless um England manager Gareth Southgate not surprisingly says now is not the time to make a decision on his future uh after that 2-1 defeat last night southg of course been in charge since 2016 his current contract is due to expire in December after the match he spoke to talk sports Faker others to lose a final is um yeah is obviously devastating so um but I have to say um I that I thought Spain were the best team in the tournament and I thought they deserve to win tonight um we didn’t we didn’t keep the ball well enough and uh in the end we’ve had physical issues right the way through the tournament and then that’s compounded by if you’re not keeping the ball and you’re having to chase the opponent then it’s very hard to uh to have control within the game and even though we ried brilliantly with the goal and had a a brief spell of pressure then after they scored um yeah I just felt they had they were more composed with the ball than us so my final question is on your future and I know you’re not somebody to make rash decisions and certainly not not in the emotional moment of just after a final but I have to ask you what what your overriding feeling is in terms of of whether you stay and take this team into 2026 or or whether you pass the bat on to somebody else no I I totally understand the question clearly I have to have those conversations with other people it wouldn’t be right to speak publicly about that before um before I speak um with the important people behind the scenes uh yeah not surprisingly he’s not going to say too much this St just a couple of early texts morning Jeff um no name on on on this one we’re a team of Serial winners Premier Leagues Champions Leagues e cups League cups all over it but we’re led by a man on the pitch who’s never won anything about time the fa stopped playing Mr Nice Guy and appoint a Serial winner um next one I just read is it needs a long he starts off all right Lads where to start Southgate and his coaching staff out of their depth Southgate isn’t the winner he wasn’t as a player and he certainly isn’t now he doesn’t have it in him to manage the bigger name players and his playing style will always be defensive uh as that’s where he played and he’s going to come in from from mat’s massive criticism inevitably but I saw jimy carrier saying you know before we start to criticize the manager maybe the players should look at themselves well you know in these postmatch comments there he says about we had physical issues throughout the tournament I worry I wonder what he meant by that because obviously we didn’t have sure so he wouldn’t be just relaying it about one player I’m just thinking whether Harry Kane you know was part of what he meant by that because why wouldn’t you say so I don’t know and and um whether they it’ be interesting to see what the post sort of news is like not today obviously but over the next couple of weeks oh I wasn’t quite right I can see an article coming out you know I had a back injury or something I can just sense that that might happen with Harry maybe even Jude as well but we looked lackluster we didn’t look you know the the one of the criteria of a football manager is to make the better of your lot not do you know what I you know like to actually improve what you got and the actual base of that team is as we as the as the caller was saying there is Champions League winners uh players who have won uh individual trophies for performances um foda in particular Harry Kane obviously Jud Bellingham and yet we the mixture of it putting it together we wasn’t as good as that we wasn’t as good as a team now when you look at Spain it’s complete reverse that manager and that group or that staff have managed to get that team uh embedded in such a way that is better than the individual players within it and I think that is the damning thing about last night’s performance because I I can accept defeat uh as a as a as an Englishman and we’ve got used to it over the years Jeff you’re as you know we’re both the same similar age you know we’ve been through these tournaments before we’ve let down but the the performance last night was really really kind of not at the level I was expecting I was expecting a much better performance from us a a much better share of attack in a tent but it just didn’t happen uh lot of you what to have you say um and needless to say a lot of Scottish and Welsh opinions on this really they’re up early aren’t they Malcolm is a regular contributor Malcolm will have had his alarm set so that he could text in at 11 past 6 which is what he did he said not so cocky now are you Jeff well I’m still pretty cocky actually Malcolm uh do you remember me agreeing with Southgate on being honest in speaking about expectations I said it was because of your arrogance I don’t think he means me specifically that other nations hate England so much what a brilliant result last night so back into your box England the gift that keeps on giving says Malcolm the Celtic and Scotland fan uh coming up we’ll continue to I apologize as Scottish fans but can’t help but give a little dig back England fans let’s hear from you this morning what did you make of England’s performance last night is it time now to move on from GTH Southgate give us a call 0371 7234 text us 81089 coming up we’ll continue to dissect another disappointing night to be an England fan that’s next what is this talk spot [Music]

  1. Spain played a system and all of the players knew and played within that system.
England doesn't have a system, just formations. Southgate just puts his favourite players out on the pitch and hopes that one of them will do something amazing and win the game for him.
    Comprehensively outcoached.

  2. Southgate said it himself post match interview. Kane arrived for the tournament with not enough game time under his belt. We brought Ollie on to give us the abilty to press and give us the outball. WTF. That was obvious after game 2. England do the same old same old again. Selecting players not fit for the purpose. Brian Robson for one David Beckham another. Rooney another.
Deffinition of insanity 'to repeat the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome'

  3. Southgate does the same every game keeps most of the good players sitting on the bench letting Kane who probably is very unfit waits to long to let the subs on Gordon. Gallagher Watkins and the other good players wasting their time with him he has no Excuse time he went

  4. A group of good individuals but not a confident and composed team and that boils down to having a such an ordinary coach. Relied on individual moments of brilliance throughout and eventually the luck ran out. Thank you for the memories Gareth but it’s time to say goodbye.

  5. I wanted a change of manager after the Denmark game
Sorry to say what he’s done for England but Gareth is too reactive as a coach and proactive
The side needed legs after the equaliser

  6. We need people who will give everyone a chance like the old managers Brian Clough Bobby Robson and more who did not stick to the big names Cole palmer Brilliant player not frightend to get stuck in Gordon Gallagher Watkins they would have changed the whole game Shame on you Gareth Southgate

  7. England might have won if they had a striker from the fist minute. Watkins and Toney 100% fitter and stronger than Kane. Keeping Kane in the team was a big big mistake.

  8. Starting monologue sums up… what is wrong with england team and the pundits in english media. the spanish players listed actually played as TEAMMM and for last time, they can play under intense pressing by the opponent.

  9. I regularly watch the Bundesliga and whenever I have seen Dani Olmo play he has been the best player on the pitch. When RB Leipzig beat Bayern 3-0, he scored all three goals.
In contrast, Bellingham was great against average teams, but average against great teams.
But somehow Bellingham is a superstar and Olmo is a reserve for Spain. Maybe England players aren't as great as their hype.

  10. England have come a long way however there’s still a few basic home truths that are self-evident and would only be fixed by a medium term connected plan in how they operate 1. It’s obvious Spain would hog possession, England actually had more than they might expect, so they need to develop ways to keep the ball more. 2 how many times has the lack of a left sided player giving the team balance been mentioned? We had no one since Waddle. Our cricket team has so many left handers, why can’t England nurture them? 3. Develop an attacking DNA style which suits England. Sure this is a work in progress but still work to do. Power and efficiency are at the centre of it as Englands dna

  11. Just let Southgate go now. He was the most experienced but least tactically astute manager in the tournament. A mediocre, Championship level manager. A very bad decision maker.

  12. No cup in 58yrs. FA are culpable. Sticking with blue eyed boy plodding managers.
Same problem with the country. Promotion by cronyism while real talent is punished

  13. Nice Gareth was not as brave as Sir Alf, who dropped unfit world-class Greaves. Harry, as an impact sub wuda been fine.

The Maths Profs sent lots of messages asking for ice cole & Trent to start of be subbed on at 65 mins.

Bobby Robson & Sven wasted huge talents of Hoddle & Scholes. Nice Gareth is wasting defence splitting world-class skills of TAA & Palmer.

GS is too loyal to Harry & Foden & Saka & Kyle on our right flank & and Pickford, who turned over the ball many times via bad long balls. Capello said to Skys Kaveh Solekal that the main reason we lost to Croatia in 2018 in the Semi.

Impact sub Latauro won 3 in a row cups 4 Argentina.

  14. I question how well emglish players would do playing outside england. We often compare them to ‘failed’ foreign players who bring their family over to miserable england and dont perform and then suddenly look like world beaters when they head back to spain or italy etc. I believe we think these english players are actually better than they are, theyve been lucky all tournament against ‘small’ nations

  15. How the fu** is it correct to change back to the system that didn't work😂. He nailed the balance against Holland. Typical English management. Just don't read the game, you just play it

  16. time and time and time again you do it to yourselves, you completely exhaust your own players mentally with one extreme to another. You say "its coming home" like you own football and it should be in England. You get royalty, film stars, pop stars and other sport stars to make videos, you start talking about who should be knighted after you win but also at the same time degrade them. You make them do interview after interview in the build up to every game, repeatedly ask them if they know what it means to the country etc which obviously takes its toll. Sure other countries get emotional as well, but no-one does it to the same extent as England and its why almost everyone else end up wanting you to lose. Your country gets the results the people deserve!

  17. If FA give me all this England players I will win World Cup 2026 and Euro Cup. 😂 Southgate never learns and is clueless same old story.

  18. Ah, England, why even bother stepping onto the football pitch? 58 years and counting, and yet, not a single major trophy in sight. One lone trophy, half a century ago, gifted on home soil with more questionable calls than a dodgy referee’s handbook.

Perhaps one day, England will come to the profound realization that their true talents shine brightest in the tranquil setting of a cricket pitch. They might then decide to graciously step aside from the realm of football, allowing those who truly comprehend and appreciate the beauty and intricacy of the sport to take center stage. This would prevent the cringe-worthy spectacle of watching them stumble and fumble through the game like bewildered amateurs, completely out of their depth, and struggling to make sense of the basics.

Oh and "It's Coming Home"? More like you’re perpetually packing your bags, forever destined to wait for a trophy that will never arrive.

  19. I think we overestimate how good our individual players are. Then we place them together with no plan, and try to shoehorn all the stars in one team.
