Coventry City 3 – 2 Oxford United: It’s was late heartbreak for impressive Oxford, as a misplaced pass from Will Vaulks sent Haji Wright clean through with one of the last kicks of the game to score the winner!

Bloody hell, Oxford. Good work. Your goalie is something else. Fair play to youse.
Our defence is still looking like our weakness. We sit back and let the opposition play way too far up the pitch. Just glad we have some good firepower up front (despite fluffing some chances).

Same as last season. Our defence is terrible. Just terrible.
Last season so many blamed the keeper, Collins, but it was clear there were massive issues in front of him. We got a new keeper but nothing has changed with our defence and they look as shaky as ever.
Despite being pretty much all over Oxford we were still lucky.

We didn’t play bad but Coventry definitely were the better side. To give it away like that though fuck me 😭

My 9 year old wants everyone to know that Mark Harris scored with his knob, and it was officially the best goal ever.

Heart breaking at end but hard to say Cov didn’t deserve the 3 point.

Still need some Experience at the back, still full of daft mistakes
But we look dangerous going forward, Haji was unreal tonight

Vaulks got away with a similar pass last week. Should be benched after that.

26 shots and it takes a howler in the 96th minute for us to win it!
Massively on top all game, but lots of issues to sort out there

Honestly, you can’t beat that feeling of a last minute winner against your rivals! Coventry fans must be buzzing!

“Joe Cumming could save the frigging titanic blud, I’m telling you fam”.. he was absolutely unreal to be fair to him
Deserved result though, as soon as Oxford equalised (especially final 15) they parked the bus but jeez we made hard work of it.
Haji Wright is a sexy boy, the composure at the end was surreal. Need to tighten up defensively though 2 silly goals given away
Can I just say, I’m not often egotistical, but we 100% are top 3 in the best fans in the Championship (Oxford were class too tbf)

Hard to assess that game really. Thought that ultimately we deserved to win based on the chances created, but I was really impressed with Oxford and losing it so late felt so harsh on them.
Our defence is still a complete mess, we really need to try and figure it out if we’re seriously about doing anything in this league.

Cracking game.
In the end we got the points, and they were deserved IMO. Rudoni already looks like a bargain signing and controlled that midfield in a way O’Hare never did for us. We now have serious strength in depth in attack and it’s good that both Wright and Simms have scored in our first 3 games.
Defensively we still have issues (especially without Sheaf) and we really need another CM before the window closes. Do that business and it should be a good season.
Oxford will upset a *lot* of teams this season. They had Superman in goal and looked a threat every time they came forward. They never gave up, even if their 1st goal came from a very soft foul leading to the free kick. They’ll stay up, no question.

there’s no bigger curse than the ‘play like that you’ll do fine this season’ to teams at the bottom early on. We had it on our relegation year. Obviously way too early for Oxford but the absolute only thing that matters is picking up points especially from good performances. Nothing from good performances is devastating as those performances are rare when you step up and you need to maximise points from then when you can. Suddenly the you’ll do fine playing like that all year in September turns into this league was a step above in December

Great game. Very glad I wasn’t tempted by the midtable Prem match.
I really feel for Oxford, that’s a horrible way to lose a game. I think they’ll be alright this season.

I think Vaulks felt bad we missed so many chances
Cheers though mate

Keep playing like that Oxford and you’ll have more than enough to stay up, safe to say 3 points from your first 2 games on paper is very good! Hell if that was our fixture list I’d consider it a good return!
