  1. Love that the statement that follows this literally opens by saying he has 3 years left on his contract.

“Play me or don’t, you’re still gonna pay me”

  2. A smaller squad where everyone gets meaningful games and anyone is an injury away from nailing down their position outright, trumps a huge squad full of wasters and guys on superstar wages in the reserves, 99 times out of 100. Chelsea’s squad is a catastrophe. Morale must be in the toilet. What is the point in anyone 3rd or 4th in the depth chart even bothering to train? Team spirit is impossible, forget actually winning anything.

Took Maresca a preseason to realize this bum has been scamming the club the last 2 years. My coach !!!!

He’s on ridiculous wages and has consistently underperformed for a player with his experience. He’s not part of anyone’s plans going forward, so they’re trying to (understandably) force him out. Why are people acting like this is shocking?

And for those saying he can sit tight and collect a check, no footballer wants that. They want to play. This is especially true for Sterling, considering he and his camp have spent the last 3-4 months lobbying for his inclusion on the national team.
