Imano Alguacil ( Sociedad Manager) : “There are no two players like Merino and Le Normand, but they are not here. I can’t even say Zubimendi will not leave at the last minute. They are irreplaceable players. We cannot look for excuses when they’re not here.”

How can any other club even trust Zubimendi after this? Surely they will stay away

  2. I actually cannot tell if he’s just trying to be a wind up, or actually doesnt believe in his own board. I know Zubimendis contract extension has been rocky, but saying this makes it sound like clubs are still in for him

If the promised him things and then backtracked after he declined to move…id be sitting out and calling hughes trying to get the move back on.

  4. I’m still absolutely positive that the moments in between him ‘giving his word’ and then ‘deciding to stay’ 5 days later was actually all a media circus to save face from us refusing to pay up and failing to agree a fee…

Yeah, no thanks bud. Enjoy your mountain views and stay loyal to your club. Will be an awful look for him to leave now, even to another club after the stunt he pulled. Also most clubs need to stay away just for their own sanity.

F off. Wouldn‘t take Zubimendi for free. This guy can‘t be trusted. Gave his word that he would come. Changed his mind. Now might come again.

  7. Just a disgruntled manager making a scene for more transfer backing and having a pop shot at the board. Nothing to see for us.

  8. Nah, means nothing, we’re reading too much into this. At this point, the season has already started and we should’ve done some business already. Despite having a new manager, we rely on data, so we should know what the holes are and we clearly identified a gap in the DM role and we should’ve addressed it. Same with CB. Anyone coming now will take a few good weeks to adapt to a situation that’s a double-whammy: joining a new team with a new manager (so can’t really rely that much on colleagues to help when they are also learning).

Also, I’m really not a fan of the griezman-style of “will he/won’t he”. You either want to come or you don’t. It’s not a high-school drama.
