Partey won’t get any stat for this but him taking free-kick quickly allowed Saka to evade his usual double/triple marking. Margin gains that makes a huge difference

  1. When partey is on it he can single handedly make us 10% better in attack and defense unfortunately he’s off of it 60% of the season

  2. Mark my words, next year the league will announce that quick free kicks are no longer allowed because Arsenal are good at it

  3. Brother you are taught this in grassroots lol. That’s just shambles defending, both in allowing the free kick and in giving Saka space (again!).

Whether Saka is creating his own space, though, is another debate.

But yeah, partey did what he’s supposed to do. If he took time there to get the play rolling while on a counter, if I’m arteta, I’d be livid.

He gave the ball away in our own half seconds before this btw. But wow, credit where it’s due, he jogged for a free kick and made a 10 yard pass from the half way line 👏👏👏

  5. I think it’s been absolutely drilled into the players in pre season to try restart asap. Check how many balls we got around the pitch too. I saw some players sprinting to take throwins yesterday too and sometimes it’s just the closest player going to take them, not waiting for the full backs either.

  6. He has great forward vision & he is one player that benefits from simplifying his game. He starts messing up when he overcooks through passes.

I also spotted the sheer amount space Havertz covers with just 4 touches to bring the ball to Saka in the final third. It looks effortless but so deadly, the Wolves defence is chasing shadows all the way.

  7. My buddy (City supporter) tried to tell me that this goal wasn’t really that impressive & the keeper would have saved it if he saw the shot sooner. He also said despite there being 3 people on Saka when he took the shot, it was an easy goal to score.

Not really sure what that means but I thought it was ridiculous enough to be worth sharing.

From a talent perspective, there’s very few people who can actually play the 6 pivot in 4-3-3 and he’s going to be very hard to replace.

  9. We know that partey is still decent in settled possession. It’s his play oop and when we are under pressure thats becoming an issue (he lost the ball when we were pressed about 3 times right before this clip)

  10. off topic but i remember a stoke v. liverpool game like, 9 years ago now where coutinho got a yellow & should have got a second yellow for blocking quick free kicks. now its just poor play if you don’t do it because it never gets punished. i thought to myself on this goal that it was really poor from wolves that no-one really made much of an attempt to block the quick free kick despite that being against the rules – goes to show how poorly the game is officiated in some ways.

  11. your not wrong, but isn’t this more just Saka being brilliant He has three man who are marking him and he fires it into nearpost, there are barely any players who can do that.
