  1. Honestly off the ball, he might be the best at the club. But on the ball I just don’t get it

  2. It’s actually impressive when seeing it like this. It’s easy to criticise him for “not being involved” or “invisible” in the game but he makes a lot of the dirty work. That press is relentless.

Hoping he will contribute with some G/A soon as well

Biggest thing for me has always been when he has the ball. Just hasn’t impressed there. His off the ball press/movement is great. Want him to get that when on the ball.

  4. idr where someone posted his fbref profile or whatever from that game for pressures tackles duels and all that stuff but he was literally 99 everything it was nuts. would ve been great if he topped it off with that goal on that layoff from Rashy. hope he stays injure free and keeps doing more of the same. we know he has the class in terms of technique anyway and his halfturn is absolutely elite so he ll be a very useful player.

  5. He’s playing in midfield for Man United. He needs to provide a lot more than this, I’m afraid.
The same summer he left, Chelsea sold Kovacic. For about half what Mount cost.
Who would be more useful to United right now ?

  6. Mount definitely needs to improve off the ball but i just dont get the people who are saying he has no use at the club.

  7. Mount is our best presser. Just needs to find his feet again.

I’m loving the refreshed Maguire but his hoofing of the ball with his head and immediate possession turnover surely lowers morale for these kinds of presses.

Mount and Bruno could be a very smart tactic against teams like City and Arsenal, where we’d be playing on the counter. Feels like a suboptimal tactic against teams that’ll sit back.

  9. I think if he can stay fit a lot of us will see his value by the end of the season.

Me included, to be honest. About ten minutes into the Fulham game, I posted a comment in the match thread that I wasn’t sure what Mount’s role in the team was. But as the half went on, I paid attention to what he was doing, and was very impressed by his pressing. He’s amazing at it. If we can find a spot for him in the team we will control more games. It was noticeable that when he went off, Fulham were able to impose themselves on the game a lot more, and put us under pressure.

On the ball he’s only ever been neat and tidy for us, rather than spectacular. From watching him for England and Chelsea though, it’s obvious that he can pick a pass, and can finish. For Chelsea, in the Premier League, he had 50 goal involvements in 129 matches. That’s not bad. It’s not Bruno levels, but then Bruno is one of the very best in the world.

There’s a queue of players who I’d like to see have a redemption arc this season – Casemiro, Rashford, Shaw, Antony, maybe even Sancho. Mount is another one. He’s made a good first step.

  10. The same people criticizing Mount are the people somehow the same saying we lack players like Park Ji Sung today. Every Squad needs a workhorse like Mount who can play multiple positions in the forward 6 spots.

Bro in the match thread was saying he offers nothing to us.

I tried to explain he offered this in abundance.

He then used the fact he got substituted to back his claim.

Some smooth brains in those threads.

    I’m glad it’s getting highlighted.

  12. I feel like Mount is much more of a “confidence player” than most other players, when he has the wind behind him, he’ll show his best but when he’s not firing or is coming back from injury his cannot express his skill and is too mentally occupied on wondering whether he’s doing it right.

His counterpressing was excellent for 30 mins. Okay to end the half. Nonexistent in the second. There’s a player there were sorely need and if he’s doing this at a better rate as he regains his full fitness I’m happy with him starting for now.

If he scored his chances we’d be raving about him rn. Did well to get into those positions, something our players are so poor at.

At the moment Mount is the one player I hope the best for this season, such a good player who hasn’t got to shine at united yet, his energy against fulham was admirable, once everything’s back to normal (as in not first game back from pre season) I could really see him being important this season

  16. I see a lot of fans writing him off and it just baffles me considering how much fans supported the likes of Van De Beek and now Sancho. He is a much better player than both and has shown for Chelsea that he is a very good player. He barely played last season and is probably suffering from a lack of confidence. I really think he will turn out to be very good transfer for the club.

I wish Slabhead had more pace, he looks good stepping into the midfield and winning the ball when our center backs are playing further forward.

  18. It’s actually nice to see us press effectively.

Last season it was all over the place. Some players pressed whilst others didn’t.

    Gotta trust the process heh.
