  1. Just very underwhelming. Not sure he’s a big upgrade on Scales and was hoping we would go for someone better.

I do find it strange that every CB we’re linked with has been from the Championship or fringes of a PL team (Mempham, Clarke-Salter, Trusty, O’Shea) – seems like that’s the profile Rodgers wants

Everything I’ve read suggests he’s a bit shite

Don’t think CCV was a stand out in the championship though so who knows

I’m actually quite optimistic about this one. Big, athletic guy so that will probably cover any immediate deficiencies in Scotland. By all accounts he’s not been great for Sheffield Utd, but I think anyone would have struggled to look good in that team last season.

Whatever happens, we need someone in at CB. Kobayashi and Lagerbielke gone, Nawrocki up for loan and Welsh is literally just there to make up the numbers at this point.

  4. Possibly a CB and Oasis back together on the same day? Don’t know which I am more surprised at

He was heavily linked with Rangers a while back and I remember thinking that this wasn’t the guy to improve us. I don’t think he’s the right defender for an old firm team.

  6. Without having looked too much into his performance I think its sus how the owner of Assnal and Rapids moved him from one team to the other just to inflate his value, not have him play a single game for Assnal before loaning him out to Birmingham and then sell him to Sheffield.

I dont like this at all and espec not for that price.

If were going for a Championship defender with inflated value we might as well keep Scales.

edit: In fact looking at more stats Scales just seem straight up better depending on how you rate the championship compared to SPFL (I think SPFL is better)

  7. Came through Philly’s very productive academy, ended up at Arsenal via Colorado. Hasn’t really lived up to his potential at the clubs he’s played for so far. I don’t know that he’s actually any better than Scales, and I’m actually surprised we’re looking at a CB at all.

Wouldn’t hate it if we do sign him, as he’s at least more of a fit stylistically than Lawal, Kobayashi and Lagerbielke.

  8. It is underwhelming, but when I heard they might do a trade for MJ then I was thinking it’s worth a punt. Actually having to pay 5m for the player who was potentially the worst PL player last season (who had significant game time) is crazy.

Fleece Celtic once this transfer window, shame on you. Fleece us twice, shame on us.

Worth noting he played almost every game in the English Premiership last season – albeit losing an absolute tonne.

Won’t judge him without seeing full matches but the sharp end of the usual Brendan model – always EPL/England first.

I think this could be a really good signing for us.

He is left footed so you would imagine he would challenge Scales for the position beside CCV.
It’s likely that he is already familiar with CCV from the USA team. He’s 6ft 3 which is useful given that our team isn’t really blessed with height.

For me he’s worth a shot. I think folk quickly forget that CCV was nowhere near the player he is now prior to signing for us and I think Trusty has followed a similar path as him

  11. Maybe it pans out but this player was not an active target, he’s simply become surplus to requirements at his current club and his agent is trying to sort him a move. Doesn’t usually pan out.

Edit: That is quite a wedge by Celtic standards.
