[Laurie Whitwell] Scott McTominay only wanted to depart #MUFC after 22 years for the right club. There was some debate, but he has chosen Napoli in a €30m sale. United needed money to move for Manuel Ugarte, who signs for €50m + €10m. The No 6 wanted all summer

  1. 22 years that’s amazing, can imagine how difficult it is for him to leave.

SJR pulling a master stroke here, he cuts the player food budget by 10%, McTom is always eating in videos

Thanks McSauce ❤️ Such a servant of the club. 22 years. Never complained.

Wishing you all the best in Napoli!

  4. It’s an ambitious and exciting move, makes a lot of sense for a player who thrives off a passionate crowd

Thanks McSauce! Happy you got a great move and for now we don’t have to see you at a prem rival. Awesome you lit it up with dem goals last year too.

Gonna miss him – but its the right time to sell. His stock will never be higher, and a player at that age will want to be a regular starter

  7. Should never have been sold but underlines modern football finances.
He’s not good enough to start but players like him have always been the backbone of United squads.

I’m glad United got him the “right” move too, in that case. Hopefully he smashes it there.

  9. Genuinely the player who I’m going to me most upset about leaving the club in recent years. Utd lad through and through and has given us some great moments. Honestly think people see him as a worse player than he is because he’s spent a lot of his career not playing his best position.

Will keep a eye out on Napoli results next year and hope he does well for them.

  10. Understandable honestly, it’s awkward enough playing against your old club on the same league, let alone 22 years being a red. Goodluck on your new chapter McT.

I always genuinely feel bad when the academy graduates leave the club 😩 (except greenwood)

  12. This sale bums me out. The price is right, but I think he was criminally underrated and unfairly maligned for being here at the wrong time and under the wrong managers. Hope he absolutely bosses it at Napoli.

Gets to leave a cult hero, at least. The club would be in a better state if everyone behaved the way he does.

I don’t have an Italian team, so Napoli are going to take that crown while he’s there. Really hope he shines.

Really admire Scott. Great attitude, and now taking on a fresh challenge on a road less travelled for British players.

Wish him all the best. Absolutely Always a Red!

  15. Very good servant to the club. He can leave with his head held high, and I can guarantee he is a better player than Ugarte. Napoli are getting the better end of the deal. He’ll kill it in Serie A. Go on, Scotty!

  16. Will playing Ugarte allow us to also play Eriksen? No one can create close to what Bruno does except Eriksen. If Ugarte does 1.5 the defensive actions and Eriksen the other 0.5 then we might have some more option on offence.
