50 years ago today – legendary Tottenham manager Bill Nicholson, fed up by hooliganism and lack of respect from some players (specially Martin Chivers), leaves the club after 16 years in charge. Included is a fragment of an interview with Brian Moore.

It’s weird to see interviews with Bill Nicholson. I don’t know if this is the case with all younger spurs fans, but the way my dad spoke to me about him growing up and the general aura he has in the club is almost this ultimate, god-like hero figure. And he is, of course, the club’s greatest icon and legend, it’s just almost kind of hard to reconcile it with interviews like this where he’s just a nice, normal bloke
