I feel like they are tricking the supporters(you guys) and/or they just want to show profits to shareholders because there is NO WAY THAT THERE IS NO MONEY FOR TRANSFERS.
Here are the transfer spendings and earnings from the last 5 seasons.

Give or take THERE IS A TRANSFER PROFIT OF 416 MILYON in the last 5 years. Ajax even made money with the worst spending season with Mislintat. This year also 33 mil in the plus.
I have seen similar trends like these at Benfica and Porto where they made incredible profits but had no money because of corruption.
I am a supporter of a team in a league full of corruption and i can almost certainly say that you Ajax supporters are being tricked in this situation. There is something fishy going on.
All those people at the RVC get their yearly bonusses and extras while you guys don't see quality transfers coming in. Plus they didn't even get a slap on the wrist after the Mislintat fiasco. It seems like Ajax is run by a group of people who are protecting themselfs from any criticism with their media connections and they have not been transparent while the club is declining.
They are hyping mediocre transfers in the media for example Traore who was a free transfer because noone wanted him.(in my point of fiew he could be a good backup nothing more nothing less). I could be very wrong about this point, this is more of an opinion.
What do they mean by ''wE neED tO SeLl bEfORe wE CAn bUY''? Where is the money?????
I could be wrong about all of this but if the same thing would happen at the club i support the fans would burn the building down asking for explanations.
Anyways just my thoughts about this situation because i have alot of friend who are diehard Ajax supporters(season pass holders, going to every away game, full back tattoo of the ajax logo kind of people) and i really follow the club. It is just sad to see the club declining like this.

You have to account for taxes + payments to agents + salaries (including staff and others) + maintenance for different things.
~400M/5 = 80M/year. Given the above it really isn’t that much although we do make some money with merchandise and ticket sales too I guess.
All in all, while you certainly have a point, it isn’t the whole picture I think.
Ajax is a public traded company and they have annual financial reports you can look up to where the monies went. I think part of the problem is that when budgets are made, we somewhat assume to get money from outgoing transfers and to play Champions league. When all those things are not happening you have quite a gap in your budget.
I have not looked into the financial statements because I have better things to do.
The income from TV rights, sponsors, gamedays are not enough to cover our costs. Therefor, we use profits from transfer money to finance the club.
We didn’t earn that 416 million. A big part of that is going to agents and other people around the transfers. So I would say It’s around 350M at his best. We have bought for 230M in the last two seasons. So then we have the other 120M. Last season and this season we have a gap in the budget of 40-50M. Because we don’t play CL. So then you only have maybe 20M left. But because you need to look to the future financial situation you can’t just buy for that amount.
There’s still money but we cannot afford to miss out on the 40M from qualifying CL any longer, also we need to bring the total spend on salary down A LOT. Once we have a nice balance in salary again and qualify for CL (make top 3 this year) we will be able to see some stimulating transfers again
What everyone else has said, and also… salaries. It’s the big flashy transfer sums that make the news, but the daily grind that runs a club.
No offense, but you have no idea how the economics of football transfers actually work. The figures at Transfermarkt have very little to do with actual take-home profit.
You just show that you have zero knowledge of how a listed company operates financially, let alone a football club. Not everything is a conspiracy, look at the financial statements, we need the money from transfers because we operate at a loss.
The board and the supervisory board (RvC) are liable for decisions that could lead to harming the shareholder value (as Ajax is a listed company). When operating at a net loss spending money on transfers could be interpreted by public oversight agencies (such as the AFM) as reckless behavior. The financial statements are audited by Deloitte, not a small audit firm and all business is monitored by the AFM as Ajax is listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
> they just want to show profits to shareholders
Being an Ajax shareholder is not a really lucrative business, you can buy shares if you like, they never pay dividends and the share value has dropped with the results in the competition. It would be better to delist for Ajax.
