An opinion on the CL Pricing

Ive attached a few images above, print screens ive taken solely from today from 5 minutes of scrolling on twitter. These are just a small snippet of example of fans opinions about the pricing, from anger, defence to threats. As many know I’m completely against this pricing criteria set by the club, however, people are entitled to their opinions.

But the one thing that absolutely pisses me off is that the club have single handedly, with one decision managed to split the fan base. At a time when we should be celebrating our return to the Champions League, for the first time in mine and many other fans lives, 42 years, instead of celebrating we’re arguing.

Our return to the Champions League see’s us playing the team we beat to win the competition back in 1982. Its like it was written in the stars. Yet instead the club have tarnished that. Wether you agree or disagree with the pricing the one thing that absolutely stands out to me is the clubs absolute disregard for fans.

You cant miss the conversation, its been all over social media, every news outlet is reporting on it, sections on radio and TV dedicated to discussing it. But regardless of opinion the club have stayed silent.

The club have allowed the fans to argue, they’ve allowed the media to hype up a frenzy like they do with everything and they’ve sowed a seed of resentment between our fan base.

Agree or disagree with the price, the single thing i take away from this is the absolute disregard the club have for us. They’re allowing this to happen while they sit in silence. No not silence, actually they not only allowing this negativity to happen, they then doubled down and increased the prices for parking for the most vulnerable while hiding behind the CL pricing frenzy.

For everything going right on the pitch so much is going wrong off it. People should be upset, but those that aren’t should also look at how the club are behaving.

I say this from a place of care, a place of upset, ive been going down villa park since i was a baby, i could hear the ground from my house when we couldnt afford to go. Ive watched us try so hard to get champions league only to fall short at the last hurdle, ive sat in villa park and watched us get relegated, play in an empty stadium with closed stands, watched us potentially go bankrupt and watched us rise again with promotion, europe and back to the Champions League. Something i honestly never thought id see.

For this to mar it just disappoints and upsets me. The club should do better.
