[Athletic FC] Why Manchester United should copy Liverpool’s long-term rebuild?

  1. Man, losing the game before international break must be the worst. All the journalists are bored and come up with stuff like this. Would have gone the other way if we had won the game.

  2. *[Other thread was deleted by OP]*

Liverpool got an absolutely elite manager and combined that with some absolutely unbelievable purchases in the market, ones you could hardly ‘copy’

Robertson was like £8m from Hull, one of the best LBs in league history. Salah £34m from Roma, probably best winger in PL history. Mane 30 odd million from a pretty average Southampton side. Trent is a generational Rb they got from their academy. Wijnaldum was great for them they got from a relegated Newcastle. Sprinked that of course with world-record fees for Alisson and VVD, but the former business you can’t just ‘copy’

If Salah had the output of your average £34m player, even using 2017 figures, same for Andy Robertson etc, Liverpool aren’t half the team they became. You can’t just copy signings like Salah, Mane, Robertson. If the model is ‘sign players who have the capability to be world class in the PL’ then I’d be stunned if that’s not what we’re trying to do anyway

  3. Find some of the comments and the downvotes to this here a bit weird? I realise that everyone is tired already of this season and on edge but this is hardly an anti-United or anti-Ten hag video.

It’s good to understand the clear differences in our play now compared to last season and the changes they made to our out of possession structure to avoid the amount of shots we have against us. Also the fact that Liverpool actually use a very similar structure but just were able to execute it better. And just how some of our in-possession problems being down to slight technical errors from our players.

Again, people acting like this is some ESPN level rage bait are being very weird, this is way better analysis than the shite we get served on the broadcasts every weekend.
