  1. Has to be Souness. The man was a bit of a nut job. We had a lot of tough players but Souness was definitely the most agressive.

If you have any doubts read this article about him breaking the jaw of a player in european cup semi final: https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/graeme-souness-punch-liverpool-dinamo-bucharest-lica-movila-a9460471.html

On the punch that broke the players jaw Souness had this to say: “It was the best punch I delivered in my life.”

  2. In the premiere league era, Gerrard leads all Reds with seven red cards. My guess though is if you went back to the 70s – when the rules and camera technology were very different – that you would find some truly terrifying levels of two-foot-in tackles and aggression that would get a player banned now.

  3. “I didn’t mean to break both of his legs if I’m honest… I only meant to break one.” – Neil Ruddock regarding Andy Cole

  4. David burrows

Used to have a fanzine page back in the day on my wall, It was just a beano type cartoon with his feet going into the opposing players head

    Pretty much summed him up

Overall with games played, Steve McMahon is up there as well

If its not Souness I give up on this sub. He broke a guys jaw in European game just because it improved our chances of winning. Multiple players of the side that conquered all of Europe say he’s the greatest captain. Lawrenson said Souness was the greatest captain not just because of what he did on the pitch but was ‘very handy in the tunnel’. He chased players around the changing rooms including Bellamy, offered Dier and Bowyer a fight them 2 vs him when he was the manager of Newcastle, chinned Kevin Durant when he was the player manager of Rangers in a training session. Oh and he planted a Galatasaray flag in the centre circle of Fenerbahçe.

Amazing player but a real hard bastard and a bit of a thug. my favourite player, Graeme James Souness.

Souness was brutal, nobody messed with him, he gave as good as he got while being a great player.

  7. Souness. I think the tackle he made as a rangers player (studs up directly into the groin) stands alongside the worst I’ve ever seen. If fairness to Souey, he pointed to the back of his sock, to show the ref that he’d been provoked…oblivious to the opposition player’s testicles which must have been caught up in his studs. He brought a particular seething psychotic rage to his play that he did well to (mostly) contain.
