  1. Dunno if this counts but I’d put Dean smith here. I challenge you to find a single Villa fan that thinks badly of him

  2. Don’t think I’ve ever felt more connected to a villa play than Grealish while he was still here, shame it ended on a sour note.

I’d probably go with Martinez. Always liked Merson when I was younger.

  3. All of my favourite Villa players have ended up leaving in the most painful ways possible. Barry, Milner, Young, Delph, Grealish, to quote Wham!; Last Christmas I gave you my heart, the very next day you through it away. So this year I’m giving it to someone special – Tyrone Mings Baby!

Can God win two categories? Not sure of all the rules. If not then Shaun Teale’s moustache for me.

  5. Dean Smith made me enjoy watching Villa again. Nicest guy, amazing vision for the club, was unlucky with injuries and poor form at the end.

  6. James Milner.

Didn’t want to leave Villa when that wanker Lerner sold him, Signalled the end of an era. One of the best and most versatile players I’ve seen play for Villa.

  7. Juan Pablo Angel for me, he was my favourite just at the age I got into the Villa and going to Villa Park

  8. I’m gonna say Deano. Grealish is up there but the ending soured a few people. Dean played a massive part in getting us where we are today and in a lot of ways this is still his team. I think he’s someone who’ll always be beloved within the fanbase.

  9. Can we have a two-way tie for Ian Taylor and Dean Smith 😉 couldn’t pick between ’em

  10. Petrov for me! Great guy, still a life long Villa fan.

(Deano from more recent history and restoring us within touching distance of our previous performance levels)

  11. John Carew? Villa fans loves him when he was playing for us, and he loves the Villa too!

Dean Smith is always going to be welcomed by Villa Fans too, a big legend.

    I had thought Ian Taylor
 then someone mentioned Deano.

    Dean Smith it is 🙂

  13. Ian Taylor he watched the ‘94 League Cup Final in the stadium with his mates and scored in the ‘96 final. Great servant to the club as a player and still works for Villa now. His son plays for my hometown team Lichfield City.

  14. To be honest, considering the recency bias of this polling, I can’t see how it can be anyone other than his holiness Deano of Great Barr.

Deano took us from mid table lost in the championship to stable in the premier league with a squad that his lordship Unai has polished, complimented and made top 4.

He was one of us before he joined, did more than we ever thought possible and was class when we moved him on and still is now.
