Connolly getting promoted with Sunderland while playing 5 total games and being injured the rest sounds about right.

  2. Honestly, I think this isn’t bad business. He won’t be expected to be the main man but adds extra competition in a position we have very little depth in.

Given our recent history of turning around faltering footballers who had potential earlier in their career, (Roberts, Clarke, Mundle, etc) it could help him carve himself out a career for himself while giving us an extra option we currently don’t have.

On a free, if he can chip in with 5-10 goals over the course of the season, I reckon it’s canny. If not, it’s a shame, but he probably won’t be on a massive wage anyway.

  3. Why would you want to derail your own season like that. Possibly the most unprofessional and useless striker going

Probably only on a short term deal till January – worst that happens is he’s useless or injured and we put him in the under 23s and lose a small amount of pocket change in wages. But in a position we’re very short on, given our main striker signing is out until Christmas and the other striker we signed is also our second choice LW and RW judging by the weekends substitutions, it’s got the potential to be a very decent investment.

  5. Decent player but a bit streaky and very injury prone

Contrary to reports from fans of other clubs, I never heard any stories about him going on the piss mid-season while he was with us
