    ON THIS DAY 2023:
Newcastle travelled to Bramall Lane, off the back of a mid-week return to the Champion’s League, where they drew 0-0 with AC Milan at the San Siro.

The Mags opened the scoring, as fine work from Gordon saw him keep the ball in play, to then square a low cross, which Sean Longstaff took in his stride and slotted home with his left.

The second came as a Trippier corner was headed in at the back post by Big Dan Burn.

The third came as a Trippier free kick was hooked in, for Botman to plant a header into the back of the net. As the whistle for half-time went, plenty of Blades fans made a hasty exit, and it wouldn’t get any better.

In the second half, Trippier added his third assist, as Schär ignored the pleas of the away end to shoot from distance, played in Trippier out wide, who put in yet another sumptuous cross for Wilson to head home.

The fifth came, as Gordon cut in on this right, and planted a glorious shot, into the top corner, from outside the area, in front of a delirious away end.
The sixth came via a glorious one-two through ball from Guimarães, on to the sprinting Almirón, who slotted home coolly.

The seventh came after Isak sprinted into the box, held the ball well, teed up Longstaff, whose deflected shot fell to Guimarães to put into the net.

The eight saw Isak glide into the box again, put a defender on his arse, and slot the ball in to the net, as cool as you like.

Eddie’s Mags were at their ruthless, pressing best, and had recorded their largest every Premier League away victory.

    What a day.
