A former Tottenham Hotspur player has made a controversial claim that Son Heung-min is finished at Spurs. He does not speak for Spurs fans, it must be said.

Tottenham Hotspur have finally found winning form, as they won their second match of the season at the weekend. It was a comfortable affair against Brentford at home, with Spurs winning 3-1.

In the game, Tottenham Hotspur legend Son Heung-min started the game and played the entirety. This shows that the captain still has impressive fitness levels, despite being 32 years old.

Son Heung-min provided two assists at the weekend, bringing his total goal contribution tally up to four goals this season (two goals, two assists).

Former Tottenham star thinks Son Heung-min is finished at Spurs

Despite Son's impressive start to the season, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara has publicly slammed Son Heung-min. In his view, Tottenham fans are sick of watching him play.

In his own words, Jamie O'Hara told talkSPORT: “I feel like I am over the hill with [Son] now. I just think the fans and everyone is finished with him. The proper fans. He’s not doing it. The quality in the final third (has gone). He is 32, is he going to go past people?

This goes without saying, but Tottenham fans are not finished with Son Heung-min. He is a club legend and the disrespect shown by O'Hara here has reached a new level.

Players naturally become worse the older they get. Only in a rare few cases is the opposite true. However, Son Heung-min is still playing at a very high level and the reason he wears the captain's armband is because he is Tottenham's best player.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion (obviously). So, allow this to be the counter-argument to O'Hara's claim. Tottenham fans are not finished with Son and instead, are filled with joy about him being the club captain for at least a few more years.

  1. magnificentwalnut on

I’m surprised Jamie O’Hara is allowed to still speak for Jamie O’Hara. Man’s a bellend

  2. Call me cynical but radio/TV pundits are controversial to boost listeners/viewers etc. It’s all “clickbait”.

  3. Familiar story-line with all the legends. Players like Son/Salah/KdB (even Haaland too) have set the standards for themselves too high that a blank on any GW is considered a failure. Forming opinions like the player is washed out will show a lack of maturity and game sense of those people. The most bizarre thing here is, this opinion came after a great performance by Son.

  4. I think by “proper fans” he’s alluding to the ones who aren’t “Son fans” or “tourists”, in which case fuck him.

  5. you absolutely did not need to post even one wall of text regarding jamie o’hara, and yet somehow you have posted two in quick succession
