Difficult to be optimistic at this point of the season, but I can’t believe the certainty with which people say our season is already doomed. Very early days. I don’t necessarily think it will get significantly better, but to suggest that it CAN’T is crazy at this point.

It’s been like 4 games. Why does it feel like this year more than others every league is super knee jerk on these massive prognostications. Let’s see how this plays out.

We’re not even in October.

Odd for them to be sure that we’ll finish in the bottom half because of losses to *checks notes*…Villa, City, and Chelsea? Those could very well all be top4 clubs by the end of the year.
If we lose to Brentford or Ipswitch, or are completely noncompetitive against Spurs or United then by all means start to panic, but if not…we’ve started the season with a completely new squad against probably 3 of the 4-5 best teams in the league.

It’s nonsense to look at one transfer window in isolation and it’s far too early to judge the players we bought in the summer or Lopetegui as a manager.

Kilman has been fine. The defensive issues aren’t necessarily the fault of one player, it’s a tactical problem imo.

Hard agree at this point in time. Hope I’m proven wrong within a few months’ time.

You can’t judge anyone this early especially with a core of players that need settling in. Judge at the half way point where I am sure it will all change again.

The same pricks raved about how good our transfers were before the season started
Journalism is at an all time low – reactionary clickbait horseshit everywhere, repeating each other

This is absolute garbage. I concede that many people were overly enthusiastic about our window as a whole, but it was still very good, and this is just reactionary shit stirring for clicks.
– Kilman has been good, and in fact already had one of the best games of any WH CB in years.
– Summerville has looked good in his brief appearances and I’ll be shocked if he isn’t a very good LW over the next 5 years.
– Wan-Bissaka has been good and will likely be out starting RB for the next 5+ years
– Todibo was a top CB in the French league last year and there’s no reason to expect he won’t be decent for us.
All of the above signings have the potential to be absolutely fantastic.
If that doesn’t move you, compare our bench this year to last year’s bench. Last season we had maybe 2 players that could offer us a decent like for like option. Every other player was a downgrade and offered no tactical flexibility. And that’s not even counting times when we had 2 GK on the bench.

I saw this article and had the same reaction as probably most of you. I think a true test will be this upcoming game against Brentford to see if our losses are truly coming from top teams.

“Defense” 🤮
Also – how/why is the mere fact that Kilman is a former player of Lopetegui a “massive red flag”?
Nonsense article written by someone who doesn’t actually know anything about football. Bin.

What massive red flags did Füllkrug have? He was borderline world class last season.
