[Ryan Taylor] Thomas Partey is into the final year of his Arsenal contract & so far, there has been no clear indication the Gunners will negotiate fresh terms with Ghanaian. With Jorginho’s deal also up in June, Mikel Arteta & Edu have plenty to ponder in midfield.

  1. If the rumours of Zubimendi regretting staying at Sociedad are true (which I think is more Liverpool fan fiction than anything else) then we gotta be all over him.

  2. I’m expecting us to go for back up 6 to Rice, maybe someone like Javi Guerra

And then starting left 8 with Merino being a back up

  3. Let Partey go and renew Jorginho, just his experience and leadership with young lads coming through is really valueable. This summer our aim will likely still be a Striker, a midfielder to replace Partey and a RW cover.

  4. Wasn’t long ago we had a trio of top class defensive mids. Now we have to go back into one of the hardest markets in football.

I don’t trust Zubi. He’s pregnant levels of emotions. Don’t believe he’s going anywhere until he actually signs a contract somewhere. Need other options.

  5. Madrid have Tchouameni, Camavinga, Valverde, Bellingham, Arda and Diaz all vying for a place in midfield, in an absolute dream scenario we go and test them for Valverde 😍

I’m interested to see what we do though, are we gonna go big for a cm in summer, are we gonna try Kai again (doubt) are we gonna go for a forward, which keeper do we buy, could he another big window!

  6. I would extend Jorginho just because of his experience and back room influence on younger players.

Apart from that, we would still need 2 midfielders as back ups for Rice and Merino. Maybe Myles Lewis Skelly can take a spot but I see him more as a Zinny replacement

  7. Let them both go and bring in some more fresh blood. Merino, Rice, Havertz (when needed), Nwaneri, Odegaard and a new player is perfect

  8. After watching some of the oil money fc derby yesterday i would absolutely love to see guimaeres in our midfield, think he would be an absolute monster for us

  9. Our 2024 summer transfer dealings + the fact that 2 of our current midfielder are out of contract next year, gives me the sense that we’re preempting a big spend in 2025. Either a couple modest CM buys or another big one like with Declan. It’s certainly something we’re going to need because our current makeup of midfielders is one Declan injury away from being bottom tier.

I think it will be a huge summer of recruitment in the midfield area. Think partey and jorginho will leave at the end of contracts so a couple need to come in.

  11. I’d keep Jorginho as a player/assistant coach, he being able to move all around the sidelines can help give indication to other players (knowing pgmol tho, they’ll probably make a rule of how players can’t leave their technical area to warm up and sht like that)

    Get rid of Partey ASAP

  12. Convinced we won’t renew with Partey. Jorgi might get an offer though. Lot will depend how the staff view Rice long term and how Merino works out.

  13. Sangaré from Forest maybe, now that’s he’s got EPL experience? Him, Rice and MLS is probably enough cover at DM and then I’d sign another 8.

edit: assuming Zubimendi is off the table

  14. My hope would be that Jorgi stays for another yeat and we bring in a highly rated young player. Javi Guerra is ny pick. He has the technical and pyhsical profile to play as an 8 and maybe 6.

We were loosley linked to him, and odly enough those links arose when his move to Athleti collapsed. A part of me wouldbt be surprised if he is waiting fot a bigger move

  15. Jorginho should be extended as he’s a good personality to have in the squad. Don’t even want to discuss renewing Partey. Feel like a good DM option will reveal itself throughout this season

Depending on how much we have to spend next summer I wouldn’t be against renewing Jorginho for 1 more season. Partey however, is not worth his salary based on his availability. This has been a long time coming so I trust we’ve got our targets and will be doing the work behind the scenes to land them.

I really thought we needed at least 2 more midfielders with all the outgoing players we had in the summer. I’d like to see a much larger squad for next season that will allow us to compete in all competitions more effectively.

Hopefully the chickens come home to roost for 115fc giving us a clearer path to signing Bruno G from Newcastle

  19. I suspected when merino is fully fit party might lose his starting position , though he’s been great this season , but without the ball he’s not the best

  20. Would give Partey a one year renewal but he’d be an idiot to take that vs a potential Saudi deal when he’d be even more washed in 2026.
