Just an interesting oversight by Jolean who had worked with Palmer at England u21s.

  1. That recovering the ball is a good way to get the ball at his feet, so that he can do something?

Yeah, you can see that he’s never uncomfortable with the ball… and in the past few years we’ve had plenty of guys that were. But Cole just has supreme confidence, and you can tell that if the guys around him aren’t making it happen, he will always back himself to carry the load.

  2. Palmer is genuinely on track to reach something we’ve never seen from a Chelsea player. A perennial Ballon d’Or favorite before a game has even been played and one of the 5 biggest names in the entire sport.

Of course we had Eden but we were often lacking around him and he never put up gaudy numbers because of it, also the fact that Cole is English adds an entire other layer. When we had the likes of Terry and Lamps at their prime the EPL was much smaller worldwide and it overall had more stars, there was a lot of huge English names fighting for headlines and it being pre-social media punditry there was far less discussion.

While there are a few, the EPL is lacking a lot of true superstars, especially English ones. Cole shows up out of nowhere, takes the league over in a matter of 1 year. I think a lot of people were waiting to see if last season was a fluke, it took all of a month to make it clear it wasn’t and everyone is officially crowning him, at worst, as 1 of the 2 best player in the league almost overnight. We are going to go into all future season with a Ballon D’Or favorite, What a fucking time to be a Chelsea fan, and it’s just beginning.
