3+ goals conceded in nearly 20% of the games is madness. But the craziest part is that the team is set up to play exactly the same every time

  1. I think that’s what bothers me the most, out of all of Ten Hag’s shortcomings. He’s coaching a side that has conceded 3+ goals to many different teams, even midtable ones.

The system doesn’t work, it just makes us worse but I know I’ll see his face again

  3. I was going to say that the heavy defeats have seemed to me like they have increased with every succeeding manager since Sir Alex, so it’s nice to see that it is almost exactly correct with the understandable slight exception of Jose.

  4. When the tactical system rushes both CBs to the midfield and has the wing backs higher than the wingers this is bound to happen.

The more i see past stats the more i respect Jose …sure we played a bit boring “park the bus” football but now i understand that he was just working with what he got and was trying to grind out Top4 and trophies from an average team.

I may be misremembering, but wasn’t Ten Hag lauded as a coach that was all about tactical nous and hard working teams? What the hell happened?

For the first time in a while I’m actually happy with the squad of players we have. All of them seem to want to actually play, but the ETH just can’t get the tactics right, unfortunately he needs to go for us to go higher.

That is a damning statistic. Can’t all the group get together and Ten Hag agree that he cannot play with this gaping hole in midfield thats been going on. Just play a double pivot in midfield and we’ll get top 5 easily. Ugarte Casemiro/Eriksen with one of Bruno or Mainoo as well. U can do the occasional Bruno Mainoo and Ugarte midfield vs bottom tier teams. But fucking be pragmatic man.

I think we all knew that DDG was the reason we didn’t concede more with the previous managers.

  10. It doesn’t take an expert to see the way we are set up just doesn’t work.

We are to easy to score against ,to open in medfield and our striker doesn’t get any service/ is isolated/ is 1v3 when ball goes into box it’s been like this since the start of last season yet ten hag doesn’t change tactics or formation or tweak players position on the pitch ( for example having our wingers a couple more yards of the line)

Our performances are not just going to start improving or is ten hags system just going to start working, honestly bring ole back, make rvn caretaker for rest off season, ffs at this point I wouldn’t care if we brought in big sam (jk btw), anything but ten hag staying in charge.

I think one of the key points of being a successful football team is actually enjoying what you’re doing at training, dressing room atmosphere, match days etc and a manager plays a massive key part in that!

He plays a big part in getting everybody to feel a certain way, bond a Certain way, have a certain camaraderie and when you have a manager who is this socially awkward, stern and rigid it creates an atmosphere that can only go so far!

It doesn’t matter what level you’re playing, if you’re not enjoying it and your surroundings you’ll never be at your best!

You only have to look at the way players interact when they’re on international duty, how they look so much happier, how they play for their countries and how players who have left us and are performing for their clubs and how they just seem like they’re in a much better place and enjoying what they’re doing.

With the ball the players appear to know what to do. It doesn’t always work but they seem to work to a plan.

However when we loose the ball the shit hits the fan and we simply fall apart. No one seems to know what the fuck they are supposed to be doing.

That has to come from the coaching staff.

  13. Absolutely diabolical.
We thought there was a philosophy, a method in all the madness. The 3-1-6, Onana as playmaker, beat the press, work the wings, make room in the middle of the park. Turns out that it just does not work, on top of which Erik is too hard-headed to change when we are desperately screaming out for it.
After that first season it seemed we had a gem on our hands. He brought us trophies but made us a laughing stock. I just can’t see how this is redeemable, the season certainly isn’t redeemable. The only chance of CL is winning the UEL and we can’t even beat Twente….at home.

Are we actually cursed guys? Like are we really cursed. How can we be so shit for so long. So many players come here to die. Talents wasted. We’ve missed out on so many top class players. Haaland, Bellingham on Ole’s radar (for instance) before they came fully good.

It feels like we have hit rock bottom. I would rather we played low block counter attacking football for the rest of the season with 2 dm to claw back goal difference and grind out wins.

Here’s to hoping we see real change on the pitch in the next few months. We all hope and pray Erik you can realise, finally, that this tactical experiment of yours is not working. Do what works. Get the team working fundamentally, create partnerships while getting results.

  14. Attack wins you games but defence wins you titles. Clearly Ten Hags tactics aren’t sustainable over a league campaign and he’s clearly out of his depth. Honestly been apparent since the 7-0 loss in March 2023. No United manager should have survived that game regardless of a Carabo Cup win.

  15. Can we check how many of them at OT? This is insanely bad even after considering last year’s defensive injury crisis.
