    trusty the clown… aye kerumba

Completely wrong approach for a game like this. You can’t play the same way against St Johnstone did Rodgers really expect us to play tiki taka out from the back against dortmund?? Celtic have the fastest players we have ever had up front.. play a long ball and hit them on the counter to get us into the game…

  2. Well that was shite, we can’t go toe to toe with big teams like that in Europe we will continue to get ripped apart. But that performance was awful tonight.

Toughest game out the way lets move on hopefully rodgers learns and sets up different against atalanta

Reality check. We’ve got three weeks to now find a way not to completely embarrass ourselves in Italy too.

  5. Obviously every player was shite but that Engels display is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. A proper fucking shitebag.

Our record signing barely tracking back from the first minute and just completely hiding from the ball the whole game. He absolutely shat himself on the big stage.

I can deal with having a shite performance but basic effort is the least I expect especially 5 minutes into the game.

Amazing how one game can just undo all the work and enthusiasm built up over the past 2 months

  7. Expect more of the same against Atalanta, Villa and Leipzig. People talk about Celtic have a great European coach, that performance puts that conversation to bed. PSG, Barca and now Dortmund have been some of our heaviest defeats in Europe all under Rodgers

  8. One thing I’ll say for the new format is that if this happened to us in the old group stages, I’d already have written off the CL for another season. It was getting to that point for me the last few years where I just couldn’t bring myself to care about these games when I know what’s going to happen. I remember feeling resigned to our fate after the Feyenoord away game, our opening game of the group.

At least this provides us with the opportunity of something different. There is still hope even though we’ve taken a battering tonight, it was arguably our hardest game against our highest seeded opponent. It’s over, and whilst the next two games are very difficult too, we’re still in with a chance of qualifying for the playoffs.

  9. I actually can’t believe some of you thought we would win that game. Brought right back down to earth after beating one of the worst teams to ever make the champions league. Celtic in Europe doing a fucking nonsense again

  10. Will never understand Rodgers’ insistence on trying to go toe to toe with these teams. The midfield was completely over run from the very first minute. Never seem to learn….

  11. 6 fucking fouls committed, why the fuck were we so weak and pathetic, we played with neither pace or power and got our arses spanked not just mentally but physically as well.

  12. This is why there needs to be salary caps in football.. In all North American team sports, every team has the same amount of money.. which levels the playing field, watching teams with hundreds of millions of dollars luring in all the great players.. It’s the same thing every year. the same teams qualify for knock-out stages, maybe a few surprises..

Kyogo is shite in these games. We need a 6’4 power striker that wreaks havoc in the box..

Maeda is far and away our best performer there which says a lot given he single handedly gifted them a goal

  14. Genuinely thought Rodgers had learned his lesson to set us up different in these games. Dunno if it was his ego or getting carried away by how we’ve been playing but that approach was mental. Also brought back the deficiencies most of us could see. A physical left back and a destroyer at CDM.

Saying that, McGregor needs to see that on the park in real time and get a grip of the team until half time. Bernardo and Kuhn making mental presses to leave us exposed.

Felt like it was a re-run of Germany Scotland. Their wingers and Brandt played narrow and we didn’t have a clue how to pick them up.

Only positive I can positive take is that needs to be a lesson on how we approach the next two games.

  15. You might laugh, but Ross County is now a massive game for us.

We *cannot* let this bleed into the league.

I went canoeing for the first time ever, today, after a heavy shoulder session at the gym yesterday.

It was far less painful than that game.

I am unwilling to acknowledge it even happened. Love this new format and its 7 games, when do we play our second game?

Highly unlikely we were ever going to get a result, but that was fucking ugly. Lays bare the gulf in leagues each team plays in and the overall talent and funds available to buy talent.

  18. Tough one to take. i wasn’t expecting to go in and pump BvB, but i also wasn’t expecting a loss like this either.

Embarrassing overall but the Idah chance getting saved off the line felt like an actual fuck you from the universe. Miles off it.

Its insane how hard adeyemi was shooting absolute rockets meanwhile all our players can do is piftless shots even our long shots are slow and weak. Gulf in quality is mental.

Conceding 7 goals in unprofessional in my eyes. That’s past the point of disasterous and players have either chucked it or the manager is inept.

Genuinely, has any other Celtic manager conceded 7 in a game? Rodgers has 3 on his record and a few 6’s. Utter shambles.

  22. It would have been nice to have left it a respectable score.

But after the draw this fixture was the one that was already seen as a write off, it’s only demoralizing from how well we’ve started this season, no need to let it demoralize from the rest of the run.

  23. For me

Midfield all hid and calmac put in one of the worst ive seen from him in many a season.
While we have guile and we do we are still a little/ lot soft. engles has development in him hes a sturdy lad at spl level but at elite level hes got a way to go ..bernardo tae … scales pass-marks, trusty just a fucking rabbit in the headlights … khun went back to germany and fucking hid but ….look its done and passed now ill just hope we regain our composure and go again cos thats a wakeup call and one maybe we needed. Some players maybe getting the reminder that a few good displays on the bounce dont mean dick at champion league level

  24. Well, they won the game, and the amazing Celtic fans won the human war, rising the Palestinian flag in what seems to be more and more becoming, like at least, fascist Germany, and on the long run Nazi Deutschland.

  25. I’ve got a theory that we absolutely shit the bed every time against a quick high press because we never face it in Scotland or ever train in that scenario, players used to having endless time on the ball suddenly being smothered

  26. Did Rodgers buy into the hype a bit about this Celtic team? I would say that yes, that’s what it looked like tonight.

Trying to go and press Dortmund high up the pitch was footballing suicide.

Leaving Callum McGregor as the lone sitting midfielder in Europe was (once again) footballing suicide.

Trying to play a high line against Adeyemi, Brandt, Gittens and Guirassy was footballing suicide.

After we concede the third goal, why are we still trying to play open, expansive and high pressing football?!

At that point we’ve still got a goal and aren’t a million miles away so should be closing ranks to try and limit the damage, slow the pace of the game down and try to break Dortmund’s flow/rhythm. Stay in the game as long as you can, try and nick a second goal and put the pressure on the home team from there.

We don’t need to be open and expansive away from home in Europe. We need to be organised and difficult to beat.

Something that really pissed me off.

Yang had a decent cameo against Falkirk. Next game, When we battered st Johnstone rodgers brings on forest. A total waste of a sub. Could have brought on yang.

So today at 5-1 down. He throws Yang to the wolves.

Terrible man management imo. Could have killed the kids confidence again.

  28. Vivid_Ice_2755 on

I’m putting this down to ego. The arrogance to try and go toe to toe is incredible. The Dortmund fans were great, that yellow wall is something else
