Imagine he had to go into a possible relegation battle instead of scoring the winner against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

I would have been more than happy to see him go for 35mil back then.
By god do I feel stupid now.

At least West Ham won the transfer window….

Hindsight is a crazy thing. West Ham wouldn’t pay that bit more to meet the club’s evaluation of Duran, and he’s since gone on to, at the very least, double his price tag.
I’ll admit I wanted Duran gone after his attitude in the summer. But he’s been superb on the pitch and done everything he needed to. Credit where it’s due.

To play devil’s advocate, we have a little bit of shame in it ourselves in a willingness to sell him for 40m. Under the circumstances though, I get it.
He’s ours now though. Pie in the face for both Chelsea and West Ham.

Let’s be honest, we weren’t letting him go for 40m either. If they came with 40, we would have said the price was 45. Don’t think we had any intention of ever selling.

Credit has to go to Emery for turning around his shitty attitude into a hungry player again
