  • Ramsey was forced off after 27 minutes of Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

  • Fellow midfielder Onana also hobbled off after 60 minutes in midweek, and the Belgium international faces a late fitness test of his own. Although, manager Emery is more optimistic about his chances of facing United.

  • John McGinn remains out with a hamstring injury but Matty Cash returned to the matchday squad for Wednesday's Champions League victory against Bayern Munich.

Match Facts

  • Aston Villa’s solitary victory in their past 25 Premier League home fixtures against Manchester United was by 3-1 in Unai Emery’s first game in charge of the club in November 2022.

  • United’s 40 Premier League wins against Villa is more than against any other opponent in the division other than Everton (41).

  • Villa’s tally of 13 points is their highest after six league games of a Premier League season since 2008-09.

  • Manchester United’s tally of seven points after six games is their joint fewest at this stage of a Premier League campaign, alongside 2013-14 under David Moyes and 2020-21 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

  • Since Emery’s appointment, only Manchester City (85), Liverpool (84) and Arsenal (81) have earned more points at home than Villa’s 74.

  • United have failed to score in three of their six league matches so far this season, more than any other team in the division. However, they are aiming to keep a clean sheet in three consecutive league away outings for the first time since March 2021.

  • Ollie Watkins has 36 goals and 19 assists in his 67 Premier League appearances under Emery; only Erling Haaland (65) and Mohamed Salah (60) have been involved in more during that time.

  • United’s last seven Premier League goals have been scored by seven different players.

  • Marcus Rashford has scored four goals in his past six games in all competitions, as many as he had managed in his previous 21.

  • Jhon Duran averages a goal every 48 minutes in all competitions so far this season. He has come off the bench to score in all four of Villa's league wins.

  1. My head says 3-1 to Villa. United’s weaknesses suit Emery’s strengths well and we will have some players on crazy confidence.

However, Man U are still the team of too many nightmare days and I feel like a very frustrating 2-2 could be on the cards again

  2. duhduhduhDAVID- on

I’m so looking forward to their 70th-minute penalty that VAR takes .25 seconds to review and totally shifts momentum in the match.

  3. This could be really something. United have stopped being as much of a bogey team for us in recent years and the vibes are niiiicht gut there right now. If we win this there’s a strong chance it’s Ten Hag’s last game.

Injury doubts aren’t great but the lads are riding a high from the Munich game and I hope that’ll carry over into this. With Ramsey and Bailey unlikely to be involved too heavily I imagine it’s another start for Philogene, and maybe Barkley. Only other option is probably dropping Rogers back and having Duran/Watkins together up top, which I could see happening later in the game but not early on.

Either way, we’ve got this. 4-0 win. Watkins, Duran, Philogene and a Bruno Fernandes OG. Ezpz. Goodbye bald man.
