He’s clearly solar powered, didn’t get enough energy over here

I still think this guy is a bigger waste than N’dombelly.
Fakes injuries and then smashed the performances for Argentina. Fuck him

I just think this is an example of La Liga being less demanding overall than the PL. Gil was also successful there as a further example.

Why fixate on a former player like this? He was dogshit for us and we sold him. That solved the issue. Now he is playing well for his new team. I’m happy for him and also happy he’s gone.

Wish him the best, he was miserable in England.

He was one of us, glad too see him play well

Is this one of those “told you we shouldn’t have sold him” posts?

Ughh still gutted it didn’t work out. This is one of those I don’t blame on scouts because everything about him seemed like he’d ball in the PL (it’s not like a Gil situation cos he had the strength and vision for it, but injuries and manager turnovers were all off

Good for him, I mean it’s not like he wasn’t given enough time over here is it? Plenty of opportunities and despite good moments it never quite clicked. Some players just thrive in one league and not at another

I think the truth is he never wanted to play in England. These players come for the money and because their agent says it’s a good move. They get here with cold feet and a lot of apprehension over the move and it all starts to tumble from there.
They refuse to acclimatise themselves to the environment they’re in, and they always seem to only mix with players that speak their language or have some sort of cultural common ground.
As a result they don’t learn the language and struggle to truly fit in. This leads them to play like shit and lose form, add some injuries to this and more issues are caused as they are stuck at home in a strange country with the language they don’t comprehend feeling alone. Part of this is on him, I feel if he really wanted to make a go of it then he would have done really well, but I don’t think he ever did, and Ange seemed to see that. Another part of me feels is on the club, all clubs not just Spurs, and their inability to help played that move, but that’s a whole other thing.
He is now in a place where he can talk in his native language and has a very similar cultural environment to his home county, so as a result he is playing his best football because he feels more settled and not isolated.
It is a shame because I always wanted this guy to succeed at Spurs, because when he is on it he is really good. But, if he is always going to need the wind blowing in the right direction, so to speak, to enable him to play his best it begs the question what will happen when the purple patch ends and it gets tough ?
