Conceding 3 goals from 3 counter-attacks against Frankfurt… absolutely shameless. Yet most fans still defend Upa and Kim. Do we really need another trophyless season to finally learn, or are we waiting to be *truly* humbled by a big team before everyone sees how dreadful our backline really is?

  1. Fucking embarrassing. It’s literally brain dead to be playing like that after you’ve already conceded two in the exact same fucking way yet you continue to leave the back open to it again and you fucking drop points again. Winless in 3.

Yeah let us put Dier as CB because he so much faster. Is the system from Kompany man ,as long as he is playing this high line you need fast defenders. And NO Palinha is not the solution so dont even start with that BS. Kompany urgently need to adjust the system

  3. Upa-Kim and Neuer. When was the last time he made a big save? The opponent’s kid showed at least 3-4 world class saves.

  4. I am not such a huge fan of this super attacking strategy. I feel like we need to put more stress on defensive midfielders. Even in the previous games too we were loosing possession easily and our counter attacks too were painfully slow. We need a player whose really good at pressing that can solve some of our problems.

  5. Did it suck we lost? Yes, but this is hardly their fault when that’s literally the risk Kompany wants them to take by sitting into the opposing field’s half. They’re 2 CBs left completely stranded to defend half the pitch by themselves. That’s the problem with a high line risk, it’s very vulnerable to counters.

  6. If you think the goals were due to the players and not the setup, you need your head checked

  7. I think the boss is asking Kim and Upamecano to cover a lot of ground. Adding a competent defender to our rest defense is certainly worth considering—to shore things up.

This is a very short sighted analysis. Since Flick’s last season “the backline is the problem.”

It’s not the backline, it’s the lack of defensive tactics. In Frankfurt’s 2nd and 3rd goal the CBs got 0 support from the CDMs or the fullbacks, put on Beckenbauer and Maldini and they’d still fail with no support from their teammates.

It’s not a backline problem, it’s a lack of a tactical structure in defense because yet again our CDMs kind of don’t want to track back and our fullbacks are essentially wingers, so even if they track back they’re already late.

The 3rd goal was totally Kimmichs fault by not playing into the centre but trying to dribble and losing the ball. Not a defender problem.

  10. If your conclusion from this is that the blame should be on the CBs, you’re clueless

What Kompany is asking from his CBs is too much, and your not always going to score 3+ goals every match. He’s sending too many players forward and leaving the CBs exposed.

  12. It’s not just this season, ever since I started following Bayern, every season felt like we had a terrible defence. And I’ve been following Bayern for 10+ years. At some point, we will have to look at whether something institutional at Bayern makes our defence so vulnerable.
