FCB want to do everything to sign either Wirtz or Simons next summer, with the priority being Wirtz. He & his family/agents are aware of FCB’s interest. Talks already took place. He is very likely to leave LEV in 2025, although it’s not guaranteed yet. The player’s actual plan is first to join FCB

  1. I kinda understand that the board wants him, but with Musiala already in the team, what Position shall both play?

We’re talking to him and his father for more than three years. So it’s likely but it’s also Leverkusen.

  3. This means we need to sort out our winger situation. I guess the starting 11 will be wirtz-musiala-olise then. This would mean that we won’t renew Sané and that the wages of Gnabry and Coman don’t make sense anymore. Tricky situation, honestly (also thinking of Tel). I also love Sané but he is arguably not a starter for us right now and his wage demands are probably to high for a rotational role.

  4. Kinda feels bad that, even if we get him, we already have to worry about him letting his contract run out and move to Madrid in 4 to 5 years.

  5. It’s a nobrainer for Wirtz, imho. At least if Bayern extend Musiala. He can form chemistry regarding the national team. Winning the world cup will be more probable and a champions league is also always possible with the club. The wages Bayern pay are also competitive and he still can join a club in the PL/spain when he is older

Idk, could see this from a couple perspectives. Why should FCB be a stepping stone for a few years for him to then go to England or Spain? Then again him or Simons would add some protection if Musiala ever pushed for a move away. This must be what the board was planning to spend wages on. Maybe they weren’t so sincere saying they had to control wages, instead just planning to move them around since this plus Musialas contract renewal that’s reported to be requesting up to 25m which would be some crazy money at the top of the pay scale for 2 kids if it worked out that way. Wirtz sure isn’t going to come in way below Musiala. Which I thought is kind of what the board was against for their wage structure.
