[James Ducker] With Mazraoui out for a few weeks following his heart procedure, the absences are once again stacking up for #MUFC, not least in defence:

    **From the article:**

United described Mazraoui’s condition as “relatively common” and said they expected him to make a full recovery and be available for selection again within the next few weeks.

This is not the first time that Mazraoui has been affected by a heart condition.

The right-back missed three months for Bayern in 2023 after suffering heart-related complications because of Covid-19.

    # United aware of previous heart issue

He had tested positive for Covid during the World Cup in Qatar in late 2022 and experienced problems on holiday after the tournament. Bayern said the problem was because of a “mild inflammation in his pericardium” and after undergoing regular testing he returned to action in March 2023.

United were aware of the issues he had at Bayern but this is a different condition.

The loss of Mazraoui, who has made 10 appearances for United since arriving from Bayern, is another blow to embattled manager Erik ten Hag, for whom the absences are beginning to stack up, not least in defence.

Left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia and new centre-back signing Leny Yoro have yet to make an appearance this season due to injury and another central defender, Harry Maguire, has been ruled out for a few weeks with a muscle injury.

Malacia has not played for United since May last year following knee surgery. Shaw last played for United in February but Ten Hag hopes to have him back after the international break.

In addition to Mazraoui, England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, Argentina forward Alejandro Garnacho and Ivory Coast winger Amad Diallo all withdrew from international duty as injury precautions.

  2. So this is gonna be Erik’s excuse for the next few awful matches, people will lap it up and he’ll survive even longer, great.

shurrup Ducker, I just don’t want to know, let me be surprised in another weeks time about how shit it is

  4. Erik Ten excuses coming in /s

This season’s already looking bleak. We might as well play some youth players and get them some experience

  5. Just throw amass in. He looked fine in pre season , he’s got promise. Seriously just give him a chance! Just one game. If he does poor, put him back in under 21s for a few more games until an easier game.
Instead I reckon it’ll be dalot at left back, lindelof at right back.

  6. I wonder if we should have like, a don’t know, some sort of thorough medical examination of players before we offer them millionaire contracts.

  7. Don’t we do medical for a day or two before signing players? What exactly do we check?

I swear we had the same problem under LvG something is fishy about dutch managers and injuries

  9. should we really count Shaw and Malacia those 2 are non existent that they arent really “missing” its more like a bonus when they do happen to be able to play.

shame about Mazroui but its nothing serious and glad hes got it done now so less impactful.

other players missing i doubt its for long and that was part of reason why we spent on Ugarte,Zirkzee,De Ligt etc was to add more depth so even when this happens we still have starting quality players to come in.

  10. Time for 3-5-2 for control.
