Big John Carew up front was an absolutely nightmare for defenders. Stewart Downing, Ashley Young, James Milner, Stilyan Petrov. Good times
For anyone that only knows MON as the speccy guy that managed Villa and Sunderland, he was scoring 15-20 goals in a season for teams winning what is now the Premier League and the Champions League 2. Basically an extremely fit box to box midfielder playing on the right wing, couldn't dribble but could run, pass, cross, good first touch, and making runs into the box from deep to score from John Robertson crosses. Roy Keane ended up playing the exact same role when he eventually went to Forest.
