  1. Ireland can't afford to be top players because the FAI will have to pay the players more
Where's the pride for playing for your country
It's not money you play for It's the pride for putting on your nations colours I've stopped watching Ireland play I've no pride in the team anymore
Look at our athletes look what they've done there's pride then you got Rugby boxing

  2. Hello there first 45 minutes Republic of Ireland played really well ..when England had 2 Goals that did not try too get back in too the game.. England one any way.first 45 minutes from was not good at all ..that's life .

  3. Oh to be sure. It was like the potato famine. We were done 5 nill. And yet we should have won. Jesus saint Mary it looked like we were shite, but that can't be true.

  4. There were two clear penalties in favor of Ireland that the so called “referee” didn’t call. Also, the 3rd goal of England was offside. and the Ireland defender didn’t deserve a red card. It looks very suspicious. Favoring England of course.

  5. Guehi is fouling Ferguson for sure, the problem for Ireland is that Ferguson is fouling him as well, so the ref can't really take any further action. On the Walker one he clearly heads the ball, so there should be no argument for a penalty there at all.

  6. Coleman sums up ireland team and irish mentality. Passion merchant who folds and crumbles at the earliest opportunity. How do you have passion as national identity for 30-40 years and every single game once it went against you you crumbled. Every single time. Weak coward mentality. Sums up by coleman. Only shows up to wind people up when he’s winning, but disappears when the team lose 😂😂 hilarious

  7. I get it was a disappointing result for Ireland, but some of the commenters really need to learn the rules of the game. I agree that the Guehi/Ferguson tussle could have been given, but when both players are grappling with each other it is less likely. The second appeal, the angle behind the goal clearly shows Walker getting his head to the ball before any contact is made with the Irish attacker. Not a penalty. Contact caused by momentum after making contact with the ball is considered incidental, and not to be given as a foul.
Regarding the Scales sending off: the 'Double Jeopardy" rule only applies to a straight red card. Yellows are now given for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity. So the blame is entirely on Scales for his idiocy for the first yellow. As for England's 3rd, the offside line is taken from the shoulder of the attacker, not the arm. All the replays showed it was only Gallagher's arm in front and therefore it is onside.
If there's any scrutiny to be given, it is for the manner in which the team collapsed after the first goal. Playing with 10 is tough. But shipping 2 more goals within 5 minutes is professional suicide!

  8. I’m an England fan but how Ireland didn’t get a penalty is beyond me! Doesn’t feel right to be favored by the ref. Also don’t send that defender off wasn’t malicious and totally changed the game with just 10 men. Sorry Ireland all the best
