Of all games for Gomes to start, at home vs Burnley is probably for the best. Maybe letting Garner focus on the defending will do him some good too

Live quite close to Goodison and the wind is really picking up. Was just thinking it’s funny that a windy day might suit EFC more than Burnley these days in terms of playstyle and then I see Gomes and Garner so maybe they will try shorter passing? Lol.

I cannot understand what Dyche thinks Young does better on the RW than Harrison. Jack hasn’t been amazing but at least he’s not a liability.

Interesting. This is the starting 11 I would have gone with, but it’s a bit worrying that Gana and Onana aren’t available. Not many ways to change the midfield (it’ll probably be Doucoure who comes off for Beto at some point), so we’re likely relying on Gomes to play 90 minutes. Also interesting that 89 year old Ashley Young is keeping Harrison out of the squad. Says a good bit about Harrison, honestly.

Doesn’t seem like there was much choice involved in starting Garner/Gomes in CM because no Gana or Onana in the squad. I don’t hate it too much honestly but i do feel like we’re going to miss the defensive presence.
