Every summer, Bernardo Silva has been linked with a move away from Manchester City yet for some reason he ends up staying. Even after his contract extension last summer, there’s still rumors about him possibly leaving Man City. Had it not been for their financial situation, he would’ve been a Barcelona player by now and I don’t see them signing him this year.

Imagine Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid Erling Haaland at Barcelona. That would be crazy and Laporta really wants to bring Haaland to Barca, a statement signing since Madrid are about to have Mbappe. A lot of football fans say that Mbappe and Haaland is the next Messi and Ronaldo rivalry when it's been far from that so far. First of all, Kylian Mbappe plays his football at PSG, Erling Haaland plays his football at Manchester City, one plays in the best league in the world while the other plays in a "farmers league for now". One has a World Cup, the other hasn't even qualified for an international tournament for his country. One won a treble in his debut season in England and the other despite being a World Cup winner and has won 6 league titles at the age of 25, he doesn't have a champions league to his name. No Ballon Dors for any of them yet.

Anyways, beyond the accolades, you look at guys like Messi and Ronaldo, that was a proper rivalry. Why, because one played for Barcelona, the other was on Real Madrid, they played in the same league on 2 clubs with a rich vein of history with a pre existing rivalry. In a season, they played each other twice every year, depending on how well you do in Europe and in domestic cups, at best they were playing each other 3 times every year and both if them pushed themselves to get better and also clashes between the 2 were very interesting. Even if Kylian Mbappe goes to Real Madrid, the only time he'll go up against Erling Haaland is in the champions league. I understand why Barca wants Haaland because football fans want to see him and Mbappe in the same league competing for all the big trophies, but the guy is on the best team in the world and just won a treble less than 12 months ago, I don't see him leaving anytime soon and if Mbappe wasn't going to Real Madrid, I would like to see him in the premier league even though it won't happen because assuming that they were in a better place financially they'd pay a lot of money for him and at the time they wanted him at Dortmund, he had a 50 million release clause in his contract that City eventually activated. There's no rivalry between Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, even though one at Real Madrid one at Barcelona, I'd like to see that.

Yes we can argue some of them might be leaving but we’ve also seen how the versatility of some of these players have helped Madrid tremendously in the past 2-3 seasons. I do agree with you on questioning how much we need him because there’s very little reason to explain that plus the money for his release but given his versatile ability he could also have a big impact on our midfield and style of play. A wc dm and a lw is top priority rn but if Barca are able to sort themselves out maybe just maybe these speculations that have been about Bernardo might end up happening.
And yes I actually remember Xavi pushing for another interior player like Bernardo some months back with lo celso even being rumored to be Xavi’s pick but I think it all calmed down when Fermin showed up this season. Fermin is a decent player and prospect but a player like Bernardo rather available for Barca playing in that role would be a much better fit. There’s the argument that fermin’s game time is only “borrowed time “ and it’s true because pedri and gavi are out injured but it’s a part of the game and who knows what might be after gavi’s injury.. I guess we’d have to wait and see.

We’re barely in April and there’s already rumors that Bernardo wants to joins, most likely he’ll play here

Call me insane but I reckon he would be a solid option at left back with license to go forward, pretty much a LW. We see him drift out wide to the left a lot when he’s playing midfield at city and he’s no slouch on defence either with pep using him as a sort of emergency left back at times. Basically him going forward would allow Gavi to join the midfield as a sort of false winger and would allow either Kounde to play RB as a sort of third centre half next to araujo and cubarsi or Cancelo to play in his more comfortable Right back slot and inverting. The only problem with this is that there’s no crosses going to fly in from the left side although the combination of Silva and Gavi would probably make up for it.

Gavi- injured, Pedri- injured, Frenkie- injured. Is next season going to be diferent? Now they have to start Roberto and Fermin. It is a very much needed depth.
