  1. I’m hoping the automated offside technology being implemented next season will go a long way towards improving VAR.

  2. If agreed, it does mean that the play off final will be the last domestic match to use VAR

  3. I have some serious mixed feelings about VAR.

In one perspective, not paying close attention to the Championship in the prior 3 seasons compared to this one, I am stunned who awful officiating in the EFL still is, in some extent, it’s even worse, they make serious mistakes that with VAR would be corrected instantly.

But from another perspective, we have seen how awful VAR is managed in the Premier League, and season after season, it gets worse. Not to mention VAR take away that instant feeling of celebrating a goal without being concerned if it’s going to stand or not.

  4. VAR isn’t the problem incompetent officiating is. VAR just shows everyone how bad the officiating is

Honestly, i dont even care if officials make bad decisions. I just want to celebrate goals again.😞

Now they just need to defund the big 6 and the league might be nearly as entertaining

  7. Goal line tech and automatic offside system stays give each coach one call to ask for a review and we’ll be fine.

  8. You know, back in the day we already had a solution for dealing with poor refreeing decisions that didn’t involve disruptive technology.

What you had was a three step system.

    1. seethe
    2. debate
    3. move on

I dunno why it needed to change personally.

  9. I’m annoyed that VAR in football just refuses to implement anything from other sports who have done it successfully for years.

Rugby you can hear everything the TMO is saying in a coherent manner, no “well done mate” there. Cricket/Tennis uses a review system to keep the flow of the game, and also adds strategy.

I remember the 2019 ashes when Ben Stokes went god mode but was caught LBW with just a few runs left to make, umpire gave not out but the Aussies had used up their reviews, it was just accepted that the Aussies made the wrong call rather than the umpire. We need something like that in football.

I’ve loved it, there’s no waiting around for 10 minutes on if my over 0.5 first half goals is gonna cash or not

  11. Here for it. Hoping it goes. It’s so much easier to live with bad decisions without 2 extra minutes to reinforce the same bad decision.
