Leicester’s only season in the third tier was their League One title-winning campaign of 2008–09.
Middlesbrough have spent only two seasons in the third division, gaining promotion as runners-up on both occasions.
Leeds’ three seasons in League One from 2007 to 2010 remain their only years in the third tier.
West Brom’s two seasons in the third tier from 1991 to 1993 are their only league campaigns spent at that level.
Prior to their relegation to League One in 2018, Sunderland had spent just one season (1987–88) in the third division, gaining promotion that year as champions.
Aside from the three seasons from 1989 to 1992 and the 1994–95 campaign, Birmingham have never played below the second tier — 2024–25 will be just their fifth season in the third division.

A list based on history where we are not 24th? Must be a first.

And we had people tell us we didn’t have it that bad, when it was the literal worst ever season the club has ever had.

Gotta be something wrong with this table – Bristol aren’t between 10th and 12th

Would Oxford and Luton be at the bottom of next year’s list?

Nuts. I don’t remember Preston the unbeatable bogey team being in Divvy 4 hell in my yoof. Fair play to those who invested in the club to get them back to the Championship.

Congratulations to Disney+’s own Phil Parkinson for leading us to our lowest ever league finish

Is that re-election column correct? I know Preston had to re-apply in the season noted on the graphic, and I’m struggling to understand how Leicester have been through three re-elections with top of the tier third being their lowest league position.

Yeah we’re a bit crap now but fuck me, some of our fans have short memories when they bemone the current state of affairs. 4 years ago was our worst season EVER.
It most definitely could be (and has been) worse.

The only seasons I went to every single game home and away were the third tier years 1991-1993.
