Liverpool’s chairman with dumb idea. Turns out FIFA and some American group are discussing changing the rules, allowing domestic league games to be played anywhere around the world….

  1. Top level football and the politics and money just does my head in now. Only way it’ll ever stop is if the players made some kind of stand, refusing to play etc, for stuff like this. But I can’t see that ever happening.

  2. I can only see this working for games such as Sunderland vs Plymouth where rather than Plymouth come up here, both clubs fly out to Dublin for example but that’s still a very shite idea.

They can fuck off. Every week now some corporate wanker comes out with a new idea to monetise the game more.

They can fook off and play in America or China or wherever for good, then. This is purely profit driven and has absolutely nothing to do with Liverpool – the people or the football game. Purely ‘it’s a brand, let’s promote it everywhere’ and zero fucks given that the entire point of football clubs is that they’re rooted in their local community.

This is why some fans are nervous of foreign buyers, especially Americans with their propensity to barge in and change everything to suit the American audience and profit. If players won’t refuse to go along with this (too busy getting rich) then local fans need to boycott the games. What’s the point of a Liverpool that’s just based wherever the biggest paying audience is? May as well call them Man Utd or Arsenal for all the difference it makes.

I truly fookin despise what money has done to the game.

  4. If it’s any consolation those of us supporting Premier League clubs think this is also a shit idea

This kind of thing is why I’m starting to think it might actually be better for everyone if the top 6 piss off to a Super League and let the rest of us run the domestic game for the good of the fans…

Manchester derby will be being played in Dubai kick off 9am, Arsenal Vs Liverpool in New York kick off at midnight, Villa Vs Wolves in Singapore kick off half 9 last night. Whatever makes the most money will be what happens

Wahhhh too many games. Cry sniffle whine.

Wahhhh we want the games to be played as far away as possible. Cry sniffle whine.

Wondering how this would even be profitable for them. There’s the cost of jetting your team and their staff around the world, then I imagine they’d have to pay a fee to use stadiums abroad. And if they’re playing in a poorer country, then they can’t charge as high prices for tickets.

The only way this would be profitable for them would be for someone to pay them a lot of money to do it.

Ah but of course Riyadh – the illustrious and most historic hotbed of global sport for all of about 15 months.

Fuck Saudi, and Eddie Hearne and his dad, and Tyson Fury and his dad, and fuck snooker and it’s golden ball bollocks, and fuck Bryson De Chambeau and Jon Rahm, and fucking fuck the premier league.

  10. Let’s face it , we are only about 3 years away from Man City playing Newcastle in Riyadh for the EPL decider

  11. I’d be foolish to say that Foley buying the club from Demin was a bad thing for the sustainability of AFC Bournemouth as a whole, but there is an ominous, uncomfortable feeling. Very quickly, we’ve become the top level in a multi-club pyramid and seen Lorient shredded for parts and relegated as a result. It’s not why i became a Bournemouth fan. Preseason tour vs Wrexham in LA. It feels farcical but it’s also deeply depressing to see the spirit fracked out of the sport in pursuit of every last fan’s money.
