Ticks all the boxes for what the club is looking for but can’t help but think this is the 4th choice and will be a huge risk going forward. Onward to next season I guess.

  2. Maybe he turns out to be brilliant, but after 4 months of searching and being turned down publicly by multiple managers, you’d think he has to show immediate results or questions will be asked.

  3. No idea who this bloke is, but there’s something reassuring about a foreign manager. Makes a change from our usual unemployed British merry-go-round. Now we can focus on getting some players in. Haway Le Bris.

I went to watch psg and they were playing his team. They played great counter attacking football and upset psg winning 3-1 vs mbappe, Messi and co

Good appointment. Much better than Rosenior, I was dreading him.

For those too lazy to actually look into his time at Lorient, he had them flying last season they were 2nd after 11 games and dipped slightly to 5th come the midway point when they decided to LOAN their top scorer to Nice and sell Outtara. They fell off to 10th, which was considerably their highest finish since gaining promotion back to Ligue 1 – previous 2 seasons they finished 16th and survived by the skin of their teeth.

They then decided to sell their two remaining best players for a combined fee of around £40m and didn’t replace them sufficiently. A poor season and this time they weren’t quite as lucky and got relegated by a single goal on goal difference.

  6. The Moore signing earlier makes more sense now:

Bris: I want Moore from you! I demand it! MOORE!

    Sunderland: Ookkkayyy?

Bris: Moore! Sign Moore from Coventry else I don’t work for you!

Sunderland: Ok Ok! *(phones Cov)* Its done! We’ve signed him!

  7. Quietly optimistic about this one, got Lorient to their second highest points finish and was doing well even after having his head turned by Leeds and Nice. Only started really struggling when the Lorient board sold all his best players beneath him. Seems to be everything KLD has been looking for and his first season he even finished above our number 1 target Still.

It’s a massive risk given how last season went for him at Lorient, but he does seem to be a fairly forward-thinking coach. If the rumours are true about him bringing his own coaching staff across rather than just being stuck with Dodds, then I’d be cautiously optimistic.

It’s crucial that he gets backed by Dreyfus though, as the average age of this squad is far too young. If we continue in the same vein as the last few windows signings, then we’ll be fucked. Ironically, he fell out with the Lorient board because they sold their best players and replaced them with kids…

Know nothing about him but will give him a chance. Can’t be any worse than Beale!

This could potentially be one of those oddball appointments like Erol Bulut that works out. I don’t think it’s a horrific appointment, Sunderland have enough quality and I don’t see him dragging them down. Definitely a wait and see before we judge appointment though.
