in extra time extraordinary header really in the end wasn’t it from Marino to win it for the Spanish now Maka this game was not turgent oh no no it was very enjoyable as Jen said but two two sides that wanted to win they attacked each other there was space there was space to Counterattack it suited you know the wide men that we spoke about yesterday I thought you know the likes of musala in the first half Nico Williams you know uh Lin y Mal was good you know and people come on Danny Almo came on I’m very sad for pedri that he got injured ear on but Danny Elmo came on his shoulders classed he really highly enjoyable game and it was whoever would have went through would have deserved it to be honest full crr came on and made a nuisance of himself and had great chances didn’t he um but Spain have been I think have been the standout team so you know I’m I’m more than happy for them to go they deserved it really I think F crook was the the the made the difference between the previous games and now every time he was coming on he was scoring goal and there was the margin in football between winning and losing is very thin he he hit the post he he made a header just a bit at the end where he should have got he could have G on and got in sorry and that’s that’s what football is and I think nobody has to be blamed in and Germany did what they had to do I think Spain were better until they scored the goal and after Germany came back and we had a very good game with so much talents everywhere on the field that was a very enjoyable game H is it that fair that that Germany go home well they are home with their heads out High Jurgen next door I I think they can keep their heads High yeah I think they they did fine they did the uh obviously they won the first two games that was U um not so difficult with Scotland and and Hungary then they got a little Lesson by by Switzerland they should probably have lost that that game and and then uh um they did okay with with Denmark to get into the quarterfinals but the quarterfinals is is the make make or break it um game in know you make it into the semi-finals and you can call it a good tournament and you don’t make it into the uh semi-finals and it’s it’s not a good tournament and uh there are a lot of questions obviously overall you can be happy with the performance you know you cannot be too critical um they they showed a good spirit the atmosphere was brilliant the fans were fantastic and today’s game was a very very good game from both sides uh but you know when you then on analyze you go a little couple of days forward from now and you analyze this game a bit into detail then you ask that question like like Frank said then know why did Phil not play from the beginning on most of the time because every time he came on he was a difference maker and havs was not that Difference Maker most of the time you know why did he sub gundogan today after 60 Minutes gundogan is your captain he is the man so why did you taking out your captain after 60 Minutes in this make or break it game um so there will be a lot of questions also being being being asked you know in a couple of days from now you know Thomas M came on um and obviously then you have that question why can’t did the older guys come back was that the right decision or not so I mean overall I think you know in Germany they are fine with uh with seeing the limits against a very very good uh uh Spanish side um where as you said you know Danny olmo made a huge difference there on the field today with all those balls dropping in around the Box you’d want some like gan coming on to that wouldn’t he with his experience you know his classic finishing and and what was obvious was that for all the talk these days about false NES and tactics that Germany showed that getting quality crosses into the box big number n with a big physical number nine puts the heie jibbies in most defenses and and we saw that and credit to Germany for for doing that but uh I thought they you know I thought obviously was a huge blow for Spain when pedri went off but I tell you what Danny ELO coming on uh was just absolutely excellent but you got to feel for pedri this young man is uh he’s he’s having a time of it isn’t he I mean both for club and Country it just seems that I don’t know if he’s a little fragile it just seems any physicality around him and he’s and he’s struggling it was a bad Challenge and I think it should have been a booking early on no matter when it was in the game but I I didn’t think it was going to be enough to to see him off but Dano get him some different pedre’s got the quality on the ball but Dano coming on uh he’s a good footballer but he’s someday reminds me a little bit of Deo jot in a way that he’s Brant drifting into the box we saw him for the goal but he’s more direct he’s less likely to get involved in the in the open play but he’s making runs so he gave Spain something a little bit different because they have the wide boys there that stretches defenses and that just allowed somebody like him when Ruiz and and Rod are a little deeper to come on to these uh deeper uh runs which he did brilliantly for the goal and it was his assist as well for the second wasn’t it his cross for the second yeah he was he played it in Jen how good a header was that for Marino a fantastic header I mean obviously positioning of uh rudo was not the best in that moment but but you got to give Spain a lot of credit you know I mean they all they thought they already there you know they’re going to win that game one n and then Germany equalizes it in the 89th minute um with uh with vs and and then you know to kind of pull yourself together again and and go back to attack the German side it was uh was remarkable and and this this moment where they scored then it was well well deserved you know they they wa they try to go for the win no matter what and that’s why why they deserve to go into the semi-finals and and uh it was a a good German Performance but it was not good enough I don’t think you can CR I don’t really think ger well you could criticize them if you want and and maybe they will get some criticism for some of his changes that Jurgen said but I think in from if you’re looking as a general rule of thilm 12 months ago they were a shambles yeah you know and unfortunately under Hy Fleck it had got out of control you know he did a great job at Bayern he’s now at Bassa but the Germany job what for whatever reason players he was picking or maybe he didn’t have some available or it was just you know the balance wasn’t but they were all over the place and they were come it looked that they were going to come into this tournament and actually they were going to struggle to get out the group and it wasn’t a strong group but the period that nagles men’s been in charge they come intoed this tournament with a completely different mindset uh now maybe necessarily I don’t think many of us thought it was probably going to be good enough to win it but it was certainly better than where it was 12 months ago but I think there was always going to be a ceiling for them right and that ceiling is around where they’ve got to playing Spain unfortunately theyve gotten they they got in the wrong side of the group didn’t he that was it that’s they on the England if they were on the England side to be in the certainly in the semi-finals would a good chance against way they’ve played but this side of the group there going to be unlucky losers they chances they had moments he’s got an open goal I’m not it’s not easy but it’s on his left pck right and unon is out he’s gone and he’s just got to he’s just got to be take a little bit of care and attention with the lob those are the big moments that are that that make the difference I want to be a little bit critical towards negers man what you know I want to I want to say Al also that at least he makes decision and contrary of Roberto Martinez but um we started to see the change of Germany when they play against France in away from home in the friendly game when they won against France and I saw something different coming up with Cruz coming back as well and that was something good but remember that I complained about the fact the third game he played nigers man played the the the the 11 that played the first two games where he should have rested them so maybe today he took that decision to get rid of goodan because he was tired and and some players maybe were tired so that’s a mistake you take decision you take responsibilities for for your act but I think that was the third game should have been something else they would have lost they would have played the other bracket yes so maybe it always worries me though that and I know there have been anomalies that that’s happened with players but when you’re selecting a player and emry Chan that wasn’t in the initial Squad and yet he plays in the quarterfinal and andri is left out saying Andre has been brilliant but he was very good coming into this tournament when you’re selecting a player who in your head you Wen you thought he didn’t Merit been in your initial Squad it tells me you’re getting away from from your your gut gut instincts and he’s got his think was that that emry Chan wasn’t going to be there until pavlovich got injured and now all of a sudden he’s in the stting The Living then he has to take then he takes him off at half time because he’s realized that it’s probably not the right thing to do and I think at that point he second uh guessing himself but I think Spain are just the better SI what did you think of the karella handball I was no you okay with it yeah I I was okay with it and look handball is probably the most subjective thing in the game sure but the reason I was okay with it is because I think that there’s a really good attempt of from cerella to actually drag the arm in drag the arm in and down by this you can see from there it’s it’s pretty vertical it’s not like m there claiming it’s not out and away from his body I I’ve got to ask the German I was okay with it yeah I was okay it’s shut up okay yeah obviously as a German you would have wished it was a penalty no doubt about it and I I think you could have given a penalty but I also agree you know he had the the arm right next to his body and he didn’t kind of stretch it out white so so it is what it is but you would have wished you know that that that he could have given it to Germany now for me for me um yeah from our time is no penalty but they change the rule and if it’s still subjective why did they change a rule they triy to make it clear if it’s hand ball it’s a hand ball it’s not the the the the the the end or the arm is outside of his body shape so therefore the rule says penalty so why do you try to be subjective when you change the rule did you read did you read the rules properly did you read the email no I don’t think what you’re saying that his arm is going back to his body that’s not true they talked to the referees before this tournament and they had a directive of the arm was okay so they still sub why do you change the rules on another note I I think you’re right they’ve changed the rules that many times everybody’s Baff on on another note whether we agree with Anthony Taylor’s officiating of the game and all the Y whether we agree or disagree I think it’s ridiculous that players are coming into this game on such a knife edge and this is the fifth game yeah so this is the yellow card of course two yellow cards accumulated in the first five games means you’ll miss the next game that has to be I’m I’m I’m sorry but if you get booked in the opening game for making a you know an attempt at a a challenge it’s a booking you’ve now got to wait till the quarterfinal and now you’ve potentially going to it should have been wiped at least after the fourth game and to allow the players a chance to play in quarters and semi now if you get booked in the quarter and the semi-final and you miss the final then then you know the score yeah but that’s just ridiculous what we’re going to see with Spain the players that are going to be missing yeah from uh the semi-final because of this rule that UEFA have which I think is absolutely born out of people that don’t understand what it means to play in a tournament like this and the decisions that you have to make as a player the decis and some of them were were Bonafide the yellows because they were cynical and some of them were just a little bit late but what do you do you’re in the quarterfinal you’re positioning in the semi-finals at stake you’re playing for your country you have to go for some of these challenges and yet you know you’re going to miss a semi-final because this ridiculous Rule and it is ridiculous it is ridiculous Jen because surely if you’re UEFA you want the best players on show for your product in the games that really matter absolutely no it’s definitely a talking point and it will be a talking point after the the Euros you know because this in my opinion the same thing it should be eliminated after the round of 16 at the latest you know start fresh again and uh and make sure that top players are in the semi-finals and hopefully all in the final uh we of course do you want to say no I just say I’m happy because there is one french guy who won’t play for France oh L noral he’s suspended yes nor K and obviously pedri is out as well H what Germany’s elimination meant of course Jurgen is that is Tony Cruz’s career now over yeah that’s how it came across also on German TV uh tonight that this was his last game and uh obviously what an amazing career he had and what a player he was if this is true that he says you know he hangs up his boots uh so it was uh and then obviously a very special game as well because against the the Spanish side where he played so many many years for for Real Madrid no Tony had a fantastic uh career outstanding player um a legend he will be in in Germany and probably in Spain as well um so can give him just compliments after compliments do you think maybe he’s doubting his decision at all Jurgen given the manner in which they left you say no no no no what do you think Jan well I think we all we all have our doubts you know about certain decisions we made at certain times and uh uh he might have them as well you know may let’s wait three months three months without kicking the ball around I don’t know if I could do that when I still play today for fun and uh and yeah I mean he will be close to to the business side of it he will be close to to probably when if he stays in Madrid he will be go going to the real games and and will be close to his former teammates and and maybe you know it’s tickles him a little bit in his feet after a couple of months but that’s it’s just normal then we’ll see we’ll see if he can resist or if he comes back maybe like hope hopefully likes golf well there he need he need something to do I’m sure he’ be right I’m sure keep I think what people don’t realize and I don’t know if this is the case with Tony Cross but from X player point of view is fans and people when people retire like that and he is still at the top of his game and he’s been a heck of a player is that you see him on a Saturday but you don’t see the on a Tuesday or Wednesday you don’t see the in between you don’t see the line on you don’t see the ice packs you don’t see the morning you don’t see the bruises you don’t see the injections you just don’t see all that side of it and maybe he’s just thinking you know what this has been so good but it’s now time it’s time to just say I’m going out of the talk yeah I spoke to him a couple of months ago and asked him I said why why are you stopping it was after the semi-final a couple of days before the final what’s it got to do with you said and he I said you’re too good to retire and he just said no he said that’s it he said thank you very much he said but no he said I want I wanted to stop at the very very highest level I’m going to do that I’m more than happy and he’s if anybody knows what he’s likeing Madrid he stays away from all the Limelight he very rarely Ventures into town he’s a family man I don’t think he’ll bother him in the slightest that he’s going to stop he’ll probably be even more happy that it eventually finished itday and it’s better for for for players to feel that the fans they still desire you instead of feeling pity for you that’s that’s and it’s hard to make that decision most of the time player they they last longer and um until the family say well are you sure you want to carry on because I don’t want to watch on TV you’ll be pitiful so yeah it’s it’s a hard decision I think Michelle platin also sto around 31 32 CU he was really fed up right and that that can happen so Germany are out so then who are the favorites to win the Euros here we go let’s Almighty let take a look and it is now France and Spain can hardly be separated but it is France who are the favorite ahead of Spain England of course in action on Saturday taking on Switzerland would you have France’s favorites Frank uh would you I what would you have France as favorites no I don’t think so I think Spain should be the favorite from what they they showed to the to the to the world and well we have to wait for England to play maybe to go back and get get B again the favorite if they beat um Switzerland but um France is for me far away from its best but they are effective let’s say and it was matter in tournament H you you can be not good but if you are efficient that’s more than enough I mean what I would say is they are the most ridiculous odds I’ve ever seen in my life there you go two sides are odds on England and odds who on writes these ESPN bet ESPN BET live and give bigger odds welcome to America I think I’ll give bigger odds on all of those teams I I I think it depends on uh if Spain get to the final uh what the 11 is right that 11 that we saw today that started yeah they’re going to be tough to beat yeah they’re that’s a good side not not the best Spanish side you’ve ever seen but they’re a good side uh and the French would have to they’re going to have to I don’t know play better there’s 100% they’re going to have overall overall we have we can see over all the teams uh issues with Strikers yeah Germany well England it is not good with his scores but uh Spain Morata I mean for me is the Enigma of his team he’s a captain uh maybe there is a reason for that but he doesn’t score goals he’s not the best player but maybe they don’t have anybody else but that’s very strange for me everybody’s good I feel Morata is still not not there yeah I think Spain have got a very good 14 15 but then they start to yeah they start to really weaken up and once once they took Williams off today and once they took um L Mal off I thought they looked significantly weaker bringing fed and toes on bringing a aab Balon I don’t think they’ve got the same power so they need to keep those special players fit you know right on get it done in the minut get done because he likes to take them off and as soon as they come off they drop they drop and they invite pressure on and they don’t want to do that karella who you’ve talked about he’s been very good but I don’t think he was brilliant I don’t think I thought he would look weaker today but and I think that was because the opposition was stronger and I think we saw his deficiencies today that we saw and we have seen it Chelsea both with him without the ball in fact with the ball he kept giving it away and the German pressure kept coming back on where at the other side I know he suspended but D Danny Carvajal on that side is just one of the best fullbacks at ever played the game he knows he knows it inside out going forward and going back but on the other side karella I think today against better players than he’s played so far in this competition look like the player that we’ve seen at Chelsea so far this season but yeah they’re just going to have to patch them themselves up and uh you know they’ve got a bit of Youth in the side but even rodri at the end who I mean everything goes through him but he just looked so tight at the end of that game because that guy covers every blade of grass so for me it’s about recuperation for the spans who have you got Spain or France in the final well based on today it’s I would say Spain but just based on on those two games today I I see Spain uh but they need to as as Greg said rightfully they need to fully recover now they need to to get fresh uh fresh air and and make sure that uh that their youngsters are are yeah get get get all the energy back that they need and keep them on the field as as long as they can I mean uh I’m very curious to see you know what the English side is offering us this in this now with Switzerland yeah so so I still have them on my account so I I’m I’m really curious to see them coming up tomorrow the the brackets a nuisance isn’t it yeah the brackets a nuisance well cuz cuz today’s game could easily been the final the first game the second game could have been a final and then that’s semi fin could have been the final yes you know what I’m saying well France win their group and we you know it’s a different conversation isn’t it no
