Hasn’t Chelsea shown how bad of an idea long contracts are?!
Seven-year contract taking him into the 2030’s as a West Ham player. Likely to be the longest serving player in our current squad. Amortisation fans will tell you the FFP impact of this transfer will be pretty small because of the long contract as well. Instantly our best centreback, going to be an icon I am sure. This transfer will have a huge influence on whether Lopetegui succeeds here, could be his Roberto at worst or Bowen/Soucek at best.

This is a quality deal for everyone. Gives you a quality CB and a player Lop trusts from when he was with us, gives us a very decent sum of money (£40m was probably fleecing you a bit tbh) to help us strengthen and try and sign the likes of Neto to long term contracts and more importantly for Max moves him closer to home and his family.
That said I’m very sad to see him leave us, so you should all be very excited to have him. Hope he does well for you (but has a stinker every time you play us obviously 😉)

Probably a bit pricey, particularly with the apparent long contract. But, a good PL defender and if he’s the guy Loppy wants, then I’m content.

Wolves fan here, for as much flak as I have given Max I still love him as a player and a person. He’s a great leader and a sound guy. Quality signing, pleasure doing business 🤝.
