  1. Mats Wieffer has officially made the switch from Feyenoord to the English Brighton & Hove Albion. The Rotterdam club keeps a record amount of money from the transfer of the Dutch international. Arne Slot is happy for Wieffer and his old employer Feyenoord, the current Liverpool coach indicated in an interview with Viaplay.

“I think it’s especially great for him, when you see where he comes from. That he can make the step to the Premier League two years after he came from Excelsior. That’s great for him,” Slot told the broadcaster. “It’s fantastic for him, but also for Feyenoord, because it’s the biggest transfer in the club’s history.”

The Rotterdammers reportedly receive thirty million euros for the nine-time Oranje international, excluding bonuses. With this, Mats Wieffer surpasses Orkun Kökcü and Luis Sinisterra (both 25 million) as the most expensive outgoing transfers of Feyenoord. According to Slot, he has made no attempt to bring Wieffer to Liverpool. “No, I have not spoken to Mats. I think it is very nice to meet him, but I hope he does not want to prove too much to his old coach”, Slot smiles.

  2. Then our name was simply used to make Brighton pay up.

What tier is this Arne Slot anyway?
