[Fabrizio Romano] EXCL: Jobe Bellingham’s plan is to stay at Sunderland at least for one more season despite interest from several Premier League clubs.

Crystal Palace have been pushing for weeks but Jobe’s current stance is to stay and trust #SAFC ambitious project.

Probably the right call on his part. There’s absolutely talent there, but I can’t see him starting for a PL side yet

  2. AKA he actually wants to start rather than stunt his growth riding the bench.

  3. It’s a funny one because there is definitely a talent there but part of developing talent is to know when to take them out the firing line and there were times when he looked physically and mentally exhausted yet continued to start game after game, to the point where we probably actually hindered his development doing so. Felt very much like we had an eye on Premier League clubs looking at ‘Jude Bellingham has a brother who’s played 60-odd Championship games at the age of 18, let’s take a punt’ rather than his own or the team’s needs. But he is definitely better off staying put than going to be a bit-part player in the Prem at this stage.

Cant wait till hes gone tbh.

A club like Sunderland bowing down to the demands of a teenager (Play every game). Its ridiculous. Then for the teenager to think “ill play for them one more season then leave”. Give me a break.

And while i do like the lad, i think the best he will ever become is a bog standard PL player.

Think this is the smart decision for him. He has looked decent without standing out from what I have seen of him this season. Another year to develop would and I feel he’s ready for PL football.
